Yes he's dirty. Yes he's boring? WTF does that have to do with anything?
We get it, you don't like him, he's dirty, he's boring. You've been telling us all that for 2.5 years now. We understand.
He's fought more big fights than all those other guys you mentioned combined. Never been knocked out. Only losses are very tight questionable decisions to top tier fighters. Including a split decision loss to Calzaghe in April. 43-0 Calzaghe who is in everyones top 2-3. A fight one judge and many reputable boxing writers like Kevin Iole had Hopkins winning.
Style ugly? Check. Boring? Check. Hopkins an asshole? Check. Limited punching power at this stage of his career? Yes.
A threat to beat any fighter in the world from 160-175? Also check.
Done debating this with you. I have every reputable boxing writer on the planet on my side. I hate Hopkins and feel dirty defending him. And again, I'd have him more around 8 overall. Not as high as where Ring has him. I fully expect Pavlik to be the first person to knock his old ass out too.
You don't think his fights are exciting enough and he doesn't knock enough people out, thus he sucks. We get it.
Done with this debate. Too much other good stuff going on in this sport to talk about instead of having weekly pissing matches over Bernard Hopkins pound for pound status. Like Clottey/Judah last night.
