Just ironing out the final details of our tailgate for the Browns/Steelers game week two in the Muni Lot. This thing is going to be off the hook, and I almost feel bad using the "Mother of all Tailgates" moniker for our previous installments last year.

Cause this is gonna be the true Mother.

Disclaimer - Still more details to come, including price, which will be somewhere between $40 and $50 a person, but will be an all inclusive price.

Browns/Steelers - Week Two - Sunday, September 14th - 8:30 PM Game Time

Party starts at 8 AM in the Muni Lot. The B Lot, or the lot closer to the Stadium. Near the RTA waterfront line, on the side of the lot farthest from the freeway. It's right about halfway into that half of the Muni. Just get within 100 yards or so of us and you cannot miss it.

You need to bring nothing but yourself. Everything is provided. Alcohol, beer, non alcoholic drinks, a staggering array of professionally catered food from Chefs 4 Hire.

Let's start with the food ...

Noon - Pittsburgh Style Cheesesteaks. They soak the meat in aujus, then grill it, and serve it on robust sub rolls with onions, mushrooms, and melted cheddar.

2 PM - Wings, courtesy of The Wright Place in Willoughby.

5:45 - Full clam bake.

~New England clam chowder
~One dozen middleneck clams per person
~8 oz sirloin steaks
~sweet corn on the cob
~redskin potatoes
~clam broth & drawn butter
~assorted dinner rolls and butter
~warm apple crisp for dessert

Also, and it goes without saying, we will have an arsenal of beer and liquor. With professional bartenders working the event. This year we are also adding a vodka bar, with four different types of premium vodka and all applicable mixers. We will also have jello shots and some other foo foo stuff for Pup and the ladies. Part of the per person charge goes towards bartenders, and security that we will be bringing in just for our event.

The tailgate will also feature a live band, playing classic rock from 2-7 PM. They will play five 45 minute sets with 15 min breaks in between.

And yes, this will all take place in the Muni Lot. I know it's kinda hard to envision for those that didn't make it out last year. While the normal tailgaters will pay for one or two parking spots to set up, we buy about 25 of them, which is also included in the per person charge. $20 a spot, so it's a significant expense. The band alone takes up 5-6 spots. The RV and catering setup, another 6-7. The RV is huge, and has four bathrooms inside. Three mens and one womens. Reserved for just members of our tailgate.

We'll likely bring 75-100 (had 50 people each for the two we did last year), Lake Erie Browns Backers will bring another 75-100. And what ends up happening is several hundred, if not thousands of people end up kind of hovering around our party, especially when the band starts playing. That tends to horrify onlookers. Our peeps get wristbands so we know who is in on the food and alcohol.

You do not have to have tickets for the game to attend. Many who attend these go to a bar or back home for the games. We'll be tossing the football around, will likely do a cornhole tournament, and we do all kinds of raffles, giveaways, and contests.

Lastly, despite the fact the game does not start until 8:30 PM, both halves of the Muni Lot are likely to be filled by 10:00 AM. We're still toying with the idea of chartering a bus to pick people up at specific point and bring them to the tailgate at 12, 2:30, and 5:00 .. but it's looking cost-prohibitive. But there is a simple alternative for those of you who want to attend, but won't be there by 10 AM:

~Park at Tower City
~Take the RTA Waterfront line from Tower City, right to the Muni Lot
~After the game, take the train right outside the Stadium (West 3rd) westbound a couple exits back to Tower City. Trains will be running all night after the game.

As always, we need a head count, and you can just bring your money that day. Let me know in here if you plan on attending.

The only issue was getting somebody to watch the kids. I suppose I could bring them, but I fear that would be permanently scarring, in a "Two Girls, One Cup" kind of way.

And let me add my voice to those wanting a TV or three. Gotta have a way to check out the 1 PM and 4 PM action.

I just met JB's Steeler-fan lady (see #27/28 above) this afternoon at the GLB (thank you Swerb and good to meet Mitch and see Nick again as well).

Not only does JB's lady have a full set of teeth and eat with a fork, but she has a vocabulary that puts most of ours to shame and she's attractive and engaging as well.

So you'll understand why I'm deeply confused.

I still think there's a Felix-Oscar thing here, but I'm now down with allowing her to partake in the festivities. You'll hear no more complaints from me on that front.

She appears to be quite intelligent. We just might be able to save her from that Steeler fandom thing yet.
