Good Trade?

Unread postby GreatGoo » Wed Apr 04, 2007 9:10 am

I really need a catcher! I'm in a Rotisserie league that is very vey deep. What do you guys think of this trade?

I get:
Joe Mauer (Min - C)
Ian Kinsler (Tex - 2B)

He Gets:
Miguel Cabrera (Fla - 3B)
Coco Crisp (Bos - OF) @KC

Me personally, I think Cabrera is going to lose his mind this year. Be right there in the MVP race.

Coco should bounce back as well.

Getting a C like Mauer in a deep league certainly carries additional value. And alot of people like Kinsler as someone who could be a great sleeper, have a big year in that bandbox in Arlington.

Not knowing the rules, dynamics of the league, who you have at 3b now, who you had at 2b before ... the trade appears reasonably fair. But I like the package you gave away a little better, based mostly on my man love for Cabrera (who I was unable to get in any of my four leagues this year).

He's mine - all mine

And Swerb -- you won't be getting Cabrera in the CSBA for a long, long time.

He's mine - all mine (fiendish laugh).

I took a flyer on Kinsler, too, and so far (two dingers in two games) it seems to be working.

You shouldn't even have to throw in an arm and there is absolutely no way anyone should turn down Wright+anything for Cabrera. Wright outperforms Cabrera, hands down this year, next year and every year after.

And yes I have David Wright in my keeper league and have an overinflated view of him.

The problem I have with the deal is that no team should really be that "hard up" for a catcher.

In the 14 team CSBA league a lot of us are in, these catchers are currently available:

Kendall (old, but steady)
LoDuca (hitting in a killer Mets lineup)
Molina, B.
Molina, Y
Molina, K
Molina, F (Ok, I'm getting carried away)
Bard (Young guy we all liked getting regular time)
Napoli (Young guy with upside)

That's 5 viable catchers that will put up decent stats. A guy like Ianetta or Paulino might be out there still in your league as well.

Sure, the drop off from Mauer to these guys is pretty big, but the dropoff in 3Bs and OFs that are probably available in your league to make up for Coco and Cabrera's departure might be more significant.

Well, Swerb, if your man-love for him causes you to make an insanely great mind-boggling offer......
