This is a big move for US Soccer. Villarreal finished 2nd in La Liga and will be in the Champions League. This shatters the MLS transfer record and I believe he's the first American outfield player in La Liga. There is talk he will be loaned out to Recreativa Heulva(I think I butchered that) so he can play right away.

The growth of US players getting picked up in the best leagues is encouraging --- it says that people are noticing the dramatic improvement in quality of the "US game" over the last 15 years or so.
