Is this an MISL team? A minor league team? Or, is this part of the top professional league in the US (the one Beckham plays in). Where they playing their games?

I am very uninformed on soccer, so be nice. :P :-P

United Soccer League. Games are played outdoor at Krenzler Stadium on the Campus of CSU. The USL is a minor league to MLS (the league that Beckham plays in). Three former Cleveland City Stars players are on the Columbus Crew as we speak.

There's not actually a direct relationship between USL and MLS.

Basically, MLS is the most well funded professional league, but they are a completely independent organization.

USL has 4 different levels: USL-1, USL-2, PDL and Youth. They also have a women's league.
City Stars are in USL-2...so they would be roughly the equivalent of an independent AA baseball team, if there is such a thing.

For those of you who are MLS fans, City Stars are playing the Crew on Sunday at 5pm...should be a good show, the organizations have worked together on player development.

Another freaking forum?

Dayum!!! And dayum skibby, too!

The "beautiful game" has a home here on TCF and that's a good thing. Not bad timing either with the start of the MLS campaign, the stretch run of UEFA and the English Premiere League.

Look forward to seeing some spirited talk up of European Football. I will post a few thoughts here and there as I see fit.

I'm speaking in layman's terms here bud, but you're right.

The game vs. the Crew should be a blast, hopefully the weather holds out.

So much for the weather -- that was brutal yesterday.

For those of you that weren't there, the goal by Luke Williams was a thing of beauty - upper 90 laser guided missile from 25-30 yards out...very nice strike.

We'll have to get the ref a watch that works next time, since he decided to add about 5 minutes of stoppage time to a match that didn't have a single injury...that was garbage.

I'm still recovering from the weather.

If anybody saw Monday's PD, there was a big picture of Luke Williams. Too bad they didn't get a shot of his amazing goal.

It was a lot of fun though. Its looking like the weather should be better this weekend for the home opener.

I didn't realize that the PD even knew that there is a sport called soccer. Nice to know that they finally actually showed up to cover a match...maybe we can make this a trend.
