Glad the week is over, check out how my fantastic Friday went down...

Get to work, roll down my window to badge into the premises, roll up my window and hear a pop in my door. Power window cable popped.

Get into the office, a/c is broken in the building. Keep in mind that the first occurrence as well as this one is happening in mid-August in South Louisiana.

Start up my computer, zap, and smell burning plastic. Work laptop = broken. Fantastic.

So I go downstairs to get a drink, machine takes my buck. All this before 10:30.

Awesome. Sorry to waste a new topic on random venting. Anyone else with similar luck today?

For what it's worth, I just had one of those nights. My wife and I went to Detroit on a mini-honeymoon to see Def Leppard, REO Speedwagon, and Styx at the Joe Louis Arena. The concert was awesome, but the stay at the hotel next to the arena sucked. For some reason I thought staying at a Sheraton Hotel would be awesome. As soon as we got there we got nailed with a $20 valet parking fee that I was never made aware of when I booked. The elevators were shaky and noisy. Even on the 10th floor the windows were so pathetic that we could hear the traffic below. The worst part was having to call security 3 times on the assholes partying in the room next to us that woke me up at 2 am. It wasn't until 5 that the cops finally helped security kick them out. Side note: those Detroit cops are big, bad motherfuckers. Also, polite, as Jen and I were coming back from a smoke outside when they arrived on our floor, and they were cool about waiting until we got in our room before they kicked out the assholes next to us. Oh, and the TV sucked; almost every channel was in stretchy-vision on the HD tv. The only good thing about last night was I was awake to watch the Men's basketball team beat Spain.

This was my second time seeing Styx (first time was at Blossom in '97 on The Grand Illusion tour); first time seeing REO and Def Leppard. I was disappointed Styx was the opener, but they rocked. My youngest son turned 11 and wanted to go his first show and our choices were the Styx/REO/Def Leppard or Rush, and we opted for Rush. I never checked on the playlist for the show but it looks like it would have been good.
