My dad got the opportunity to follow Tiger Woods for an entire round last year. Not during a tournament, but a private group of about 50 people.
American Express had a promotion for cardholders which allowed them to redeem their points for a round of golf at Oakmont, the site of last years US Open. One of his friends invited him along.
They played a round of golf and then had lunch afterwords. Mike Tirico came to the podium while everyone was eating and announced a special guest was there. Tiger emerged and talked for a few minutes before inviting everyone to follow him around that afternoon. No one had any idea about this when they arrived at Oakmont that morning.
My dad told me Tiger analyzed every shot to the group before executing it. Earlier in the day, there was a long drive competition held. Turns out the winner got to go at it with Tiger on a par 5. The gallery member hit from the middle tee box and Tiger hit from the back. Tiger's ball still ended up 100 yards ahead of the contestants.
Can you imagine being one of the golfers who left the course immediately after finishing their round?
