Payton was unstoppable to the point that if the defense guessed the play he could get out of it and gain a yard or so. Singletary on D was very good, so was the safety (forget his name). Then add Gentry returning kicks, IIRC he could get you to midfield every time, but the thing that put them over the top was the TE pass play to Cap Boso. Even if the play was guessed the pass was completed every time, every single time. IMO it was a defect in the game. It was so bad that I did an experiment with it and only ran that play and my buddy put it on that play while on D every time, I never got stopped and marched down the field 4 yards at a time for two straight games.

Yeah, Chicago was my favorite team in the game. Gentry was awesome returning kicks, and they had three super fast defensive players. You could go d-line with the one guy, I believe McMichael, or go LB with Singletary, or do safety with Dave Duerson. They were all studs.

And the TE play......I recall that as well. Actually, any play where a player ran a slant or a curl, as long as you threw the ball when the player broke to slant/curl you completed it every time. Any team. I remember the Giants having an all curl play and it could never be stopped. Speaking of the Giants, I hated them with Joe Morris in the backfiend.....he was a stud in that game.

It took awhile, but I eventually beat him. Having the code (I believe it was 007-373-1563) helped so I could face him anytime.

The lightning start was brutal where if he hit you once he knocked you down. Man, for the longest time that was intimidating. My buddies and I used to spend hours trying to beat him, and one day when I finally did I called the entire neighborhood and was a hero. To this day I think I was the only one to ever beat him in the neighborhood.

Don Flamingo was awesome.
