Snowblowers

Unread postby FUDU » Sat Dec 08, 2007 11:48 am

What ever happened to the $250 snowblower, you know the kind you just fill with gas, start up, and on you go?

Sheesh, these things are ridiculous anymore, and I am not talking about the size and options, just the price for a small simple snowblower...and almost every single model that is considered cheap is electric.

WTF is an electric SNOW blower anyway, is it like a hair dryer you can use in the bath tub. Seriously there would be less hassle going out and spending $7,000 on a used truck and plow to get rid of 2 inches of snow in the driveway.

Can anybody tell I don't like winter.

The electric part of it is for the electric start where you just flip a switch and it turns on. They still run on gas.

Tony, you find me a gas powered thrower priced close to this (this one being electric meaning yeah you have an extension cord lying in the snow and in your way) and I'll buy one for both myself and you*.

It is why I have placed myself in exile from Cleveland. Pensacola is about 78 right now too, had to take off my Tribe fleece.

Donny, you sure it doesn't use a chargeable battery where you plug it into the wall with a power cord to charge when not in use?

I'm 99% sure dude. I was under the same assumption as you originally were in regards to "electric" referring to the method of starting (which is why I didn't take offense to your reply), but I reviewed the ad 3 times and noticed under fuel type it states clearly "electric" and under capacity for oil it shows "no".

Check out the link bro, if you see anything that says it is not powered by electricity more power to you. Hopefully you do b/c then I would buy it, as it stands right now not a chance, my driveway is 40-45 yards long.

FUDU- I was in this position last winter. I walked into a Lowes and bought an MTD snowblower that was last year's model. They gave me an additional 15% off because it was on the floor.

Exceelent machine for about $500. I had looked in classifieds, etc for used ones and everything else but you can find some deals if you walk in and negotiate prices.

I guess that is the one positive thing about being stuck in SEC country. Now it looks more and more like I will be moving to Big East country in the next couple of months, FUCK.

Furls even if you got snow down there the speed in which it would get shoveled would be ridiculous so it would be pointless to get a snow thrower.

Good topic...I finally decided to get one, why, I dunno.

I usually back the Jeep up and down the driveway, a couple 12-13 times, good enough.....

Trouble with the damn blowers is, you put a tank of gas in it, run it, then don't use the damn thing for a couple year, and the carb varnishes itself closed......

I figure I can hook a chain to it and to the Jeep, and drag it up and down the driveway, maybe only 4-5 times then.......
