maintenance job we have open, we posted the ad last Thursday afternoon. Some of these people are applying from as far away as Newark, Mt. Vernon, and Grove City.

Curious to know how many of them are qualified (on paper) to do the job you have, and are considered by you to be worth interviewing (if you had unlimited time). Just wondered if your percentages are anything like mine when I post an open position as a third party.

I am glad to see people from different cities looking around. It is not for everyone, but being able to move helps a ton with finding a job. A quick look on indeed.com shows 22,000 job openings (making greater than $40,000) in the Denver area. Ironically, fewer than 22,000 showed up for occupy Denver.

Besides you know the movement sucks when this is the best you can do

Yeah..... i'm just trying to figure out when you became a nasty whiny little cunt. You used to be funny, now you just sound like an asshole.

Shall I go find teapartyhotties.com ? That's your thing, all those wrinkles and liver spots.

There is a collection of Tea Party hot chicks on HolyTaco but my work has blocked it. I can not vouch for their hotness, but I can bet there aren't any chicks with dreads. Hippie dreads seriously make me dry heave.

BTW I have always been an asshole. However, I am not sure what is whiny about what I posted. One was serious, one was sarcastic, that's about par for the course for me.

3 out 5 are probably aren't qualified from the get go. We ask for at least 1 year's experience, and prefer someone with some HVAC knowledge. I like people who put "any time" in the availability section of the app. It's something I look for.

We quit putting any stock in work history, since more and more people are having long periods without employment. I'll weed it down to probably 15-20 people to submit to the hotel manager to call back and set up interviews. I'll guarantee we'll have a few people who will fuck themselves over by showing up to the interview in jeans and a t-shirt. It seems silly for a maintenance job, but if you can't even bother to put on a collared shirt and slacks, I question their real desire for the job and their initiative.

Guilty as charged, dude. Not the angry, old man part....I think I'm pretty jovial most of the time...but the baby boomer thing. We have been the most selfish, irresponsible, kick-the can-down-the-road generation, maybe of all time. I apologize to my kids (32 and 30) for us all the time.

The Beast writer was mostly right on the mark. A lot of clueless well-to-do boomers out there who have no idea what the job market is like today. (there are also an awful lot of them who do...because they're in it, but that's off-topic.)

This is some really awesome news, the Federal Reserve is guaranteeing Bank of America's $75 TRILLION in European derivative deals....

What the fuck are we going to do when this shit hits the fan like it did last time? $75 trillion...... is there even that much money on Earth?

Holy shit.

EDIT: I'm not really familiar with this site so FWIW...

Just an FYI but the 75 Trillion is the notional value. That is much different than actual value (I am assuming these are likely MBS swaps).

But yes, it is still fairly disturbing.

Demonstrator Andrew Warner, 36, said homeless people are hijacking tents, getting drunk, “passing out” and stealing.

“It’s turning into us against them,” Warner said. “They come in here and they’re looking at it as a way of getting a free meal and a place to crash, which is totally fine, but they don’t bring anything to the table at all. It gets really frustrating.”

Jackson Bush, manning the Occupy information tent yesterday, said some homeless people have been hoarding free items, including donated coats.

Yeah really awesome piece. But I guess expecting fair reporting from a piece of shit conservitard rag like the TWS would be expecting way too much. Same people who absolutely blew the Tea Party until their throats went numb.

It would be like summing the TPM while only interviewing the biggest freaks I could find. Like the assholes dressed up like the Revolutionary War characters, with tea bags hanging from their tri point hats (and how people here cried about how juvenile it was to call them "Tea Baggers").

Fuck off.

The right are such loathsome hypocrites, they purposely misrepresent the whole movement as "dirty hippies without a message", but they're obviously too stupid to understand it. But that's their nature, gutless worms who would rather stereotype people than make minimal effort of understanding something that really isn't all that complicated.

You can't be bothered with honesty and objectivity, that shit is for communists.

The fact you dumb it down to that shows how either utterly misinformed or dishonest you are. Are there anti- capitalists there? Absolutely. Does that in anyway negate the message OWS is putting out? No. Fucking people who can't have their little pussy ears hear anything that might question capitalism....... because it's so fucking awesome.

It also amuses me that because dude worked as a Clinton pollster, he's a liberal and makes your case. Holy fucking rubes, Batman.

It is hardly dumbed down. Show me the lucid thoughts coming from the group. Did you not read their demands? Watch the videos. The co-opting by the unions. The fact it was started by adbusters. Such a fantastic group that many libs are cautioning the Prez from supporting them.

Oh, and why the sudden need of all these libs to equate them to the Tea Party? I thought those fucks were the root of all evil. Racist nazi loving dumb fucks that tea party.

Fuck these mother fuckers.

I've outlined the basic message 2 or 3 times in this fucking thread.

Ohhh no! The libs are cautioning the president! OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh that just totally makes your case, doesn't it?

Dumbshit, he's taking money from the cunts on Wall Street, to the tune of almost $4 Mill for his upcoming Hope-A-Thon 2 campaign. Support their frustration, but don't piss off the big money donors.

I wasn't really that enthused with OWS when it started, I didn't think it would last and spread like it has. Do I agree with everything that's being said down there? Nope, not at all. But i'm sick of having my government bought out by the few at the expense of the many. They get what they want through out and out bribery while we're told to go pound sand.

Its fuking corporatism at its finest, just see those uncouth asshats at OWS as a worse option. To be fair I feel the same way about, the hardest core TPers and their stupid dressing up as the founding fathers. Or with tea bags hanging from their hats.

Though a big difference is TP worked through the system, OWS needs to copy that. It's still early in their movement hope it happens though.

Eh, I got lazy and began talking to CDT about Zombies. Perhaps yer right...

Though its good to see Cleveland State becoming a more well rounded University. That increased student housing is really opening possibilities for the students to interact with their urban environment. As a commuter I limited myself to Galluccis and Cousins Cigar.

2) an end to capital punishment

3) modernized infrastructure, and so on), a single placard I see at the activists’ encampment perfectly illustrates the grab-bagginess of it all...

4) “Close Corporate Tax Loopholes,

5) Tax Religious Groups,

6) End the Wars,

7) Legalize Weed, and

8) Bring Back Arrested Development.”

...Well, according to another posting on OWS’s website, they want

9) a universal single-payer health care system,

10) a guaranteed living wage regardless of employment,

11) free college education,

12) one trillion dollars in infrastructure improvement,

13) to bring the fossil-fuel economy to an end,

14) to outlaw all credit-reporting agencies, and

15) to see immediate across-the-board debt forgiveness for all. "

Most of those look like pretty reasonable liberal positions to me. A few crazies thrown in, sure--I'd be skeptical about #1, I never watched #8, #10 & #15 are batshit crazy, and I don't get #14--but for the most part, the actual positions extracted from that article are good (though not especially original) ideas, IMO, and not reducible to "we hate capitalism, maaaaaaaan."

Come on Hoodoo. Yes some of those positions are currently pursued by my liberal friends across the aisle, but they have as much depth as "smaller government", "end the fed", and "don't tread on me" of the Tea Party. Instead of closing bridges, raping people, and stealing from fellow OWS members (It only takes a few bad apples, this was the same method used to discredit the Tea Party save the faux outrage) they should be integrating this nonsense into the Democratic party, though like we have said that party already pursues much of this naive agenda.

1.)Does nothing to solve the debt, HooDoo we went through that CBO article on how much needs to be done to bring the budget into balance and this is not a solution, it would be hard for me to ever support this.

2.)I'd entertain that, as the studies show its more expensive to have people on Death Row for decades.

3.)Again in a cost effective manner no problem. I bet if we cut into other areas where government money replaced earned income we could have some kick ass infrastructure.

4.)No issue there, then you can lower rates.

5.)Again no problem analyzing this, but religious groups should extend to all non-profits.

6.)I'm getting more and more liberal on this, especially in the Middle East. I still want the most feared military machine when its needed though.

7.)In the absence of the social welfare state. Hell yes. With it intact, do we create another protected class? We already adding ugly people and the unemployed to that list...

8.)Feh

9.)Government can't manage SS or Medicare. No thanks.

10.)Hell minimum wage is arbitrary make it $5, $10, $20 who cares prices will go up to meet the new costs, or the workforce shrinks. This will never be feasible.

11.)Free college, free healthcare, INSANE TAXES ON EVERYBODY.

12.)I wish my budget worked like this. New Aston Martin DB9! If you don't have Fox Business DEMAND IT!

13.)I'd also like to bring the fossil-fuel economy to an end. I envision I replace it with matter/anit-matter reactors and not Solyndra.

14.)likewise batshit crazy.

15.)See 14.

The common thread between Tea Party and OWS is somewhat displayed by my feelings on the above list. Problem is those areas of agreement cannot withstand the abject disagreement on the majority of issues, and in today's partisan climate that means even the areas of agreement are off the table.

This one's probably going to go over as well as my Tatiana post but that never stopped me from charging in full speed before... :loadof:

CNN Money has an interesting article about the top 1% of wage earners.

Interestingly enough the top 1% of wage earners in the US earn 17% of the nation's income and pay 37% of the nation's taxes. To me, it seems that they are definitely paying more than their fair share on average already. 1% of the population is paying 37% of the nation's total tax bill. If we are objective how can we honestly think and say that they are not carrying their weight? Does that group consume 37% of the public/government resources? No way. Most likely they don't even consume 1% of the public resources since they probably have their own private health insurance, don't require food stamps or free housing, etc..

Oh yeh, only 14% of the top wage earners are Financial Professionals. 15.7% of the top wage earners are from the medical field. When do the Occupy Mother's Dentist Office protests begin? I don't know. :hide:

A few crazies thrown in, sure--I'd be skeptical about #1, I never watched #8, #10 & #15 are batshit crazy, and I don't get #14--but for the most part, the actual positions extracted from that article are good (though not especially original) ideas, IMO, and not reducible to "we hate capitalism, maaaaaaaan."

Most of those look "reasonable"? Seriously? Bring the fossil-fuel economy to an end. Ok, poof, it's over. Now what? What's the ready to go, in the box alternative? Free college education? Who's going to pay for that?? Immediate debt forgiveness? I could go on. Most of those look incredibly idiotic and impossible, not "reasonable."

Tell you what...let's bring back Arrested Development. I can get behind that one, and maybe some of these morons will go home and watch TV instead of continuing their pointless "protest" for nothing.

I'm in when you figure that out.

I've been filling bottles with gasoline and all I have to do is stick the rag in the top and buy a lighter.

PM me when we're set to go.

We're set. Operation Blow Up Mother just needs a go sign. That came together nicely. A lot of cooperation and desire to get this done apparently.

Another cuntface response.

They're as Christian as I am..... actually i'm more Christian, because I endorse the things Christ actually taught.

I wasn't making those. I was making bottles of gasoline with a rag in the top.

YOU GOBBLE KNOBS!

You paid to go see the Browns vs Seahawks. How dumb do you feel now?

What you're making is something that will either just set you on fire or not work at all. But maybe that's your brilliant plan, to set yourself ablaze and run in Mother's office screaming..... setting his office on fire with your burning remains.

Someone comes up with a better plan and I'll back off of that one. Not married to it.

Mix Styrofoam and gas and you get "sticky fire", we used to make that when we were kids.

You're a sadistic German. Of course that's what you did as kids. Then you probably stuck that shit on the smaller, cooler Irish kids and laughed as they burned.

Fucker.

Wrong. I've never said one bad thing about the Irish. We would mix about 80 Styrofoam plates with some gas until it became a large mass with texture similar to silly putty then roll it into a long strand and stretch it across the road and light it and laugh when it would stick to car tires.

We did this. Seriously. And never went to jail, where we all belonged.

Pretty sure OJ spent last night fondling himself while watching the innocents in Oakland get tear gassed for nothing.

Nothing sets him off like the police state going after innocent protesters.

Because the city is made up of 70% minorities?

Or because Oakland PD has one of the worst track records of police inspired violance of anywhere in the country?

The video of the protesters in Oakland pushing the guy in the wheelchair out of the massive cloud of tear gas is incredible.

They should probably dump that goddamn "protect and serve" motto. What a bunch of bullshit.
