You are rather uninformed for a person who often writes as if they have a broader world view than those who reside in the US. I don't think it's a case of "America likes him" as much as it is that CNN is desperate. And Morgan is pimped by Simon Cowell. The ratings for CNN, especially in prime time, have been dropping like a rock. Larry King Live pulled it's worst ratings in 25 years and the networks' overall Nielsen ratings were down 46% in primetime compared to LYTD.

CNN has nothing to lose. BTW, the only "Americans" in the US and Canada (I can't speak for those Americans who live in Mexico or Paraguay) who even know Piers Morgan exists are those who watch "America's Got Talent" and "Celebrity Apprentice". Both popular, but hardley and ringing endorsement - the majority of US television viewers (including Larry King) have never heard of him.

Not sure who this dude is, but CNN needs to do something. The channel's personalities are completely unwatchable, and they've just been getting trounced in the ratings this past decade. John King and Candy Crowley are very solid reporters, but not dynamic enough personalities to carry their own shows. Anderson Cooper - not sure how anyone watches him. Larry King ... never been a fan. Everyone who has a show on that stationis awful.

I watch a fair amount of cable news, and probably represent Joe Viewer in my cable news watching habits. Used to watch CNN all the time ... morphed into half and half with the other cable news networks. Now? Barely in the rotation.

The station has been horrifically mismanaged.
