Obviously couldn't arrest them as they were raving lunatics, can't tase, can't punch, can't shoot, and I am guessing if he wrestles her to the ground it would be considered excessive force as well. So what tool does that leave police officers who want/need to arrest someone who doesn't want to be arrested? Whats funny is all that started because he wanted to question her about jaywalking. Come over, talk to police officer, get your ticket if he is a dick or be polite and go on your way. No arrests, no punches in the face. I'm torn on this one. I'm leaning toward taking the side of the LEO simply b/c these were grown adults that know better than to react that way to an officer that was simply trying to question them. Should he have punched the woman, no, but in the heat of the moment with two of them flailing at him I cannot put too much fault on him. IMO it was better than him busting out his taser.

Punish him with a brief few days of suspension and equally as important if either of the women were in fact breaking a law before hand add that to the charges of assaulting a LEO.

The respect I give someone is directly related to the respect they give me. I'm not going to bow and scrape to person just because they're in a postion of authority if they're acting like a prick. That being said, I think 95% of cops are good men and women, it's the other 5% that get the most attention, which is sad.

Just so people know, i'm not a hater, I don't call 'em pigs. I just think they need to be held to the same standard as the rest of us. If that was just another dude tussling with a woman and he decked her, he'd be in jail. Why does he get a pass? Anyway, to the original point I made some years back considering these tasings, that is, there are people in this world that I truly feel sorry for. The victims of the tasings posted here, just about every GD one of em' involves someone who brings punishment upon themselves because there too dumb, ignorant, defiant or drunk to reply to simple requests. Are many of them excessive?, certainly, that why they make this board, but easily, easily avoidable by someone with half a brain.

In true American fashion, I immediately formed my opinion. And now I've finally gone back and actually watched the tape.

It sure looked like the girl in the pink shirt was just trying to separate her idiot friend and the cop who apparently needed help in subduing a flailing woman. She got between them and pushed the cop back. Then she stepped back herself. Then the cop stepped forward and punched her square in the face. She didn't even look like she was going after him at all at that point. At least that's how it looked to me.

Initially I thought hey, it may be a little excessive, but you shouldn't be attacking cops. If you do you shouldn't complain when there are repercussions. After watching the video though, I don't know man. It sure didn't look like he needed to hit anyone.

At the very least I think he hit the wrong broad.

That cop was NOT assaulted. Interfered with, YES, obstruction of justice, YES, but not assaulted.

ANYTIME a male cop tosses a roundhouse right on the button of a woman and/or child, it will LOOK BAD. He needed either a better plan, better training , or separate himself, beat a tactical retreat and live to fight another day. But without backup, he was in no-man's land.

Lastly, he either punches like a broad, or she has been use to getting popped, because it DIDN'T KNOCK HER OUT!........
