I echo Ziner's statement. The Magnum came out when I was 12-13 years old. There was nothing like it. I spent my summer's right across the Lake from CP and until the Magnum came out, you barely knew their was an amusement park there- There was the Space Needle and the very top of the Gemini came out of the trees, then one spring you look over and there is this brand new huge-ass rollercoaster. I would go frequently to CP back in the day- twice a year, pick a colder mid-week day and ride it 4-5 times. Love the ride itself too. So yes, I must say it is nostalgia. Since Millenium opened I have been to CP twice, once the ride was closed, the last time I rode it and yes, it is a great ride, thought I was going to plunge into the Bay coming off that first hill. Line to long to go again. But nostalgia as a kid trumps all else, which is why I could probably name more starters offense/defense of the '86 Browns that today's team.

Take your nine year old daughter (any kid able to ride for the first time will do) on both for the first time ever in her life and see which one she won't stop talking about. Not even close. Millenium is still at another level than anything else. IMO.

I was only tall enough to ride it one year before they took it down...I did get to ride it a few more times at the Exposition in Toronto in the 80's...Cool Ride!!!

Kinda like the old Bat @ Kings Island that only made it for a year or two in the early 80s...

Enjoyed reading everyone's nostalgic look at CP...My takes:

-I agree Millenium is the best at the park...non-stop 90+ mph from start to finish

-Dragster (when it's runnin) is a Wad Blower as well...Great ride to be on in the dark

-Magnum was good (about 10-12 years ago)...love how you can get on it now in less than 10 minutes though

-I'll give some good props to Maverick as well

-I agree w/ JB for Blue Streak memories...Could do without all the muckleheads & mosquitos in your mouth though

-Front car in Rapter is better than sex (most of the time)

Here's the catch with all the coasters at CP, if you plan on riding all of them or multiple ones then you have to save the Millennium for further down the list. If you ride MF before you ride the rest you just done ruined your day, like eating all the popcorn before the previews even finish.

They're all good in their own way but much of the sensation and sense of holy shit we could die is gone on the rest of them once you've ridden the MF.

BTW I think the Mantis sucks, not to mention that little nook of the park smells like a sewage dump.

Maybe the toughest question in the history of 5 Question Friday. On the one hand, women with hyphenated last names are invariably bitchy and high-maintenance. And Fagg is an unfortunate surname. Hit on a few points above-

The last time I was at CP was '08 when I helped my wife chaperone her 8th grade class trip. I was amazed, stunned that that it was at most a 10 minute wait for the Magnum and the Mean Streak was a 1 car wait. I hate waiting in lines so we rode those rides 3-4 times each. Both those rides still work for me. You can tell that these rides at one time were great as evidence by the miles of roped off steel line dividers that no longer serve a purpose. The kids loved all of them, but the Millienium did win out. Although a lot of them spent time at the carnival-like games and the arcade, two places I wanted little to do with when I was their age.

FUDU's correct about going to the Millenium first, we did that- lines were short (20 minutes roughly)- at the beginning of the day. The others didn't quite measure up, but can still appreciate the other coasters and the Magnum is still my favorite. Was disppointed that the Maverick was shut down that day.

The one coaster that I didn't like was the one in where you stand up Mantis/Raptor get them confused. That damn ride rattled my head side-to-side so much I felt like I was getting punched by Mike Tyson in his prime. I came prepared, took an Excedrin, washed it down with I believe was a Diet Coke and was good to go in about an hour.

Wabo- Power Tower is awesome. Unlike the coasters in which you don't have much time at the top, this ride lets you take in the scenery. When on a clear day you can see NORTH BASS ISLAND, you know you are high off the ground

I'm too tall to ride the Mantis, that fucking bicylce seat is not comfortable and it's rough on my back and knees. Not Mean Streak rough, but the stand up part don't help.

BTW the prices they charge you at Cedar Point at infuckingsane. I can't imagine what it costs to take a family of four.

I have the same problem, the Mine Ride is murder on me as well. Prices, LOL, honestly the way to go anymore is a season pass, lot of value in it but you have to go twice to break even IMO, three times and you're ahead. Anybody living under an hour drive w/kids is foolish not to get one each summer, it gives you the option of going for only 5 hours a bunch of times all summer instead of feeling like you have to stay 10 hrs to get your money's worth.

As long as you pack some coolers and don't pay for the concessions, it's really not that bad...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think $45 per person is bad for 12+ hours of entertainment? Compared to what you pay for 2-3 hours @ a sporting event, movie or even dinner out isn't too bad...Hell, you almost pay that much for a hard-covered novel anymore...

But if you eat their chow, play games & buy souvenirs, then yes...

As long as you pack some coolers and don't pay for the concessions, it's really not that bad...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think $45 per person is bad for 12+ hours of entertainment? Compared to what you pay for 2-3 hours @ a sporting event, movie or even dinner out isn't too bad...Hell, you almost pay that much for a hard-covered novel anymore...

But if you eat their chow, play games & buy souvenirs, then yes...

Although the Mama Berardi french fries are always a must

With vinegar and some ketchup.


One good thing about Lisa's job is the half price CP tix good for all of July. I think Progressive may have the same deal but I'm not sure. But if you can get a deal like that and take that cooler in you're in good shape.

Last time I was at CP I was somehow able to fit onto the Mantis by having my knees bent the entire time. It as awesome til the first time I cracked my stones on the f**king seat bacause I couldn't straighten my legs to absorb the blow. They need to have one car/row avalable to those over 6'5" comfortably.

I almost couldn't get on the Millenium bcause my stork legs stuck up too high and the seat belt barely reached.
