What a win for USA Hockey. First time we've beaten Canada since 1960.

What a great game, all around. USA reached deep inside and hung on for the win. Miller was insane last night, no way they win that game with Tim Thomas in the net, just no way it happens. This team has had a nice start to the Olympics but the forwards are going to have to get better moving and controlling the puck. A goal would be nice too.. And to your point earlier in the thread, does anyone on this roster know how to forecheck? We were beaten down in the offensive zone a lot last night.

Absolutely. Good observation j_t. Honestly, Canada's got the best transition game in the tournament. With Brodeur back there last night, the forwards were more worried about attaching to the outlets than go hard after the puck since Marty was playing it so much.

But they absolutely need to sustain a better forecheck against Switzerland/Belarus and then further into the tournament. Finland presents a problem for them, assuming we beat the SUI/BLR winner, because they are the most similar team to the United States. That will have to be a game where the skill players come to play.

Some awesome games coming up with a potential show down of Russia and Canada then the winner of that would get Sweden (provided they win of course). USA certainly doesnt have a cake walk but I am happy that if all goes right we only have to see maybe 1 of those 3 teams.

"Style" points. Also, my understanding is that the "jury" (which i think is made up of the judges) monitors the conditions and will hold jumpers back if the wind, etc. change too much. They want all jumpers to jump in similar conditions so there's an even playing field.

I get it, just don't agree with it. Not only do you have to jump further than the next guy, you need to look better than him too. It shouldn't matter whether you soar like an eagle or jump like Eddie "The Eagle". Just wanted to drop that reference.

Yeah I saw it, it was pretty sweet. Mostly because of the nasty fall the one guy took. He was rolling down the windows as soon as he went airborne. Something rarely seen by guys of that skill. He hit a jump with waaaaay too much speed.

Luongo is a good move. Brodeur's confidence is pretty shell-shocked. It'll be interesting to see what Babcock does if Luongo throws another shutout against the Germans like he did against Norway to open the tournament.

Pulling Tretiak was not. It was meant to be a wake-up call, and really, it was. The Soviets came out and led the game going in to the third period. But, Tretiak should have been put back in. Panic does strange things when you're almost never losing a game.

Interesting note that the way the bracket is set up we could beat Finland then beat the Russians to win Gold (in reverse order in which we did so in Lake Placid).

Also, I wish Ukraine had a team in it so the announcers could at least have the chance to say that they're weak & feeble.

I hear what you're saying ST. Just gotta ask- Luongo's other start was against Norway and this start is against Germany. Two of the weakest teams in the field. Brodeur's starts were against the Swiss, more middle of the road and the US. I'm willing to bet Broduer plays just as well against Norway and Germany as Luongo. Can we compare the two goalies given the competition is less equal? Broduer limited the Swiss to two goals and won the shootout and yes he cracked against the US. Just wondering.

These Hosers are in a virtual no win situation. They win, everyone expects them to given they have the best talent. We all know the pressure placed on them by the Canadian press and public, if they lose- they play Russia after they beat Germany, well I'll just sit back and watch. I think pulling Brodeur can be interpeted as a "panic" move. I wouldn't think the players are in panic mode, concerned maybe. Definetly the Canadian media and public are.

Should be a fun medal round.

Luongo is a great goaltender when he faces a lot of work. But, on the big stage, he's fallen on his face. Last year against the Blackhawks in the Western Conference semifinals, he was terrible.

Brodeur is far more accomplished internationally. Luongo has not played any games of this magnitude.

Personally, as bad as Brodeur has played, I'd still want to go back to him.
