Why are there time outs in curling?

Do they have curling zambonis?

NBC is retarded for showing this stuff on tape delay instead of live. did i miss something, aren't these games being played in the pacific timezone, not some other boondock continent. knowing what happens before i see it just kills everything for me and its stupid when this shit is just goin down in canadia. this ain't the '50s show it live for Christ's sake

Glad to see you come around. Nice pics huh... figured swerb wouldnt like it if I posted them

Not entirely sure why they have TO's but it seems as if it is the only time they can consult their coach. As well they have 73 minutes of throwing time, if you don't finish in that time you forfeit. Don't ask me where they come up with the round number of 73

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Shuster

As of 3:26:

Upon John's pathetic performance at the 2010 games, he has decided to retire from the sport. And an hero.

Shuster said he draws inspiration from Bill Buckner, Brad Lidge, Scott Norwood, and the city of Cleveland.
He currently works as a quality control specialist for Toyota.

In a side note, in 2008 Shuster attempted to commit suicide. Unsurprisingly to those who know him and have watched him play, he failed at the attempt; Shuster used a gun and once again completely messed up the shot.
Shuster has come to be known as the biggest choke artist of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and is the lone reason the USA curling team has not won a single game this Olympics.

John Shuster (born November 3, 1982, died February 18, 2010) is an American curler from Chisholm, Minnesota and Olympic medalist. Nicknamed "The Largest Choke Artist Alive", Shuster distracts his opponents with horrible shots and general terrible overall play

Hilarious. What a choke artist.

JTDC CDT, what a ridiculous idea. Bears have no touch. They couldn't curl, or do curling, or whatever they call it. Sea Lions maybe, but never bears. Not if you want to win.

Now monkeys, that's a different story. Monkeys can curl their asses off. But, anyone who knows anything knows that monkeys ARE NOT to be trusted. You'd never get a legit competition.

Why don't you try to think sometimes before you post this poorly thought out shit?

On the other hand, I have it on good authority that platypi...those duck billed bastards can fuckin' curl, man.

I watched the entire match. It was on when Lisa left for the dentist's and it was still on when she got back. She then made it very clear that my credibility was shit should I make fun of her Bravo-watching ways.

And she had a valid point. But I got caught up in it.

Midgets and monkeys would definitely increase the interest but watching people crash and burn in whatever their chosen endeavor (like the hump who skippers the US team did) is interesting. Shuster kept spiraling further and further into an abyss of suck so deep and so sure to continue that I was hooked.

Curling is a game, not a sport. The Olympic village should be filled with ATHLETES ILO, not guys who play "games."

Not that i don't repect how skilled they are at said game, it's just that there are some incredibly skilled corn hole, lawn dart and bocce players on this green earth as well. No need to put em' on a podium every 4.

I agree, something about a skinny blonde chick from Denmark that is hot even with a slightly jacked up face. I kind of find the American team lacking in the looks department though which is disappointing. Besides the blonde chick there isnt alot to write home about.

Another awesome hockey game today between Switzerland and Norway. If you love watching Olympic hockey, this tournament has been an absolute treat.

NHL playoff hockey is similar. Not to this insane level, but it's similar. This is awesome for the sport right now.

One clear benchmark for a game not being a sport is if you can hold a beer and play at the same time, a la corhole and Bocce. And while some may argue you can't play curling with a beer in your hand, nothing screams "In no way am I a sport" more than a 6 month pregnant chick being a skilled participant.

Yes, a "sport" which sends a 6 month pregnant chick to the Olympics.

There was an impressive move (by the Korean IIRC) in the medal race of short track last night. Went from 4th to 1st in a matter of half a turn without touching anybody.

I swear the one guy (taller guy, red uni, Canada?) has been getting totally humiliated this whole Olympics. Keeps getting nudged, pushed and ends up falling in every other race. I just don't see how any guy nearing 6' tall can compete in that event, unless they have unprecedented speed and get out front from the start.

What a start to this USA/Canada game. 2-1 Americans 10 minutes in. Amazing. Makes me remember how much I used to love hockey. Great for the sport is right.

Energy in this building is off the charts. Miller's Uncle Sam mask is awesome.

I'm watching right now, NBC, & they're showing men's downhill skiing.

WTF?

Not a big hockey fan unless it is green and gold, but damn this is some intense hockey right now.

Yeah, but I think the rink is slanted toward the Canadian offensive end the last 9 minutes.

Very frantic period. Too many cross-ice passes and careless clears from the US. They have to play with more puck control and start limiting the shots.

They're played ok. But Miller's been a stud.

On a side note, Ovechkin's hit on Jagr is a thing of beauty.

The same Jagr that was 30 like 20 years ago?

Yep. He's 38 or something now. Plays in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia. $10M tax-free.
