what in the fuck it is with this Jack Black guy? He's in just about every movie, has a video game with his likeness, a new taco from Taco Bell, is annoying, humorless, and talentless in this tenacious d bullshit. What the fuck am I missing here?

Funny video. I always considered myself open minded. I'm cool with new ideas in music, art, and comedy. I just don't get this guy. Oh well I guess I can add his name to my list that includes Ellen Degeneres, Rosie O'Donnel, Dane Cook, and others that I never understood their celebrity status.

I think he's a funny guy. I also think he's talented music wise as well. He may sing about fucking girls gently and do audio skits of drive thru trips, but he sure can write, sing, as well as harmonize with 'Cage'.

I also think he's a pretty good role model for kids thus far. He hosted Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards (maybe a few times?) and has had nothing controversial in the news... yet. I see him as a dude who likes to make people laugh with his own style at the same time spread the love of music.

Just my 2 cents.

I really enjoyed Jack Black in "Saving Silverman". He is good as a character actor....should only be in supporting roles. Tenacious D's music is sort of "meh". A few of the songs are funny and catchy, but it's nothing special. A couple college kids who knew a few cords could put that stuff together in a few hours in their dorm room.

Overall, I like Jack Black but understand where he could become annoying or seen as unfunny. He hasnt really shined in everything he is in and since he is practically everywhere, I could see where people could get annoyed.

I love Tenacious D and thats kinda the point of the band/joke. They go around talking about how they are "The Greatest Band in the World" and even wrote a song (Tribute) about how they sung the greatest song in the world to the devil to save their souls only to forget it in the end. Kinda the whole point, they proclaim their greatness only to be no better than most garage bands out there..

Surprised you didnt like the movie, CDT. I went in expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. Also, Jack Black was great in High Fidelity, which was a good flick on its own..

Great character actor in multiple comedies, a poor man's Philip Seymour Hoffman. He puts a very nice wrinkle on boring best-friend roles, like he did in High Fidelity, Silverman. Who can forget his performance as "Rick" in the greatest movie ever- The Cable Guy! No, I'm not kidding. I loved The Cable Guy.

As a lead, he surprised me in Shallow Hal and he crushed School of Rock. King Kong? meh.

As a stage comic and musician- he's got balls, but I see how he's an acquired taste. Did good work on "Mr. Show." Saw him and KG at the Aragon in Chicago around 2000. One of the most shocking and disturbing performances I had ever laid eyes on.

Never have understood the love for High Fidelity. I saw it not long after it came out on DVD. Lots of great music in it, but that's about the only nice thing I can say about it. Oh yeah, The Boss makes an appearance.

Never got a bunch of other movies that people like a lot either, like Fight Club.

As for Jack Black, I'm not a fan and have never found his stuff all that alluring. He did pretty well in Peter Jackson's King Kong. He's kind of a one trick pony when it comes to comedy.

As for Saving Silverman, R. Lee Ermey was the funniest guy in that movie.

I love watching B War Movies, especially from the 80's. All the bad guys do the Uzi/AK 47 dance. When they get shot by the good guy, they flail their arms and shoot off about 50 rounds into the sky. If it's a really good scene, they do a swan dive off the guard house/roof after doing the Uzi dance.

Every Ahnold and Chuck Norris movie from the 80's has about 10 instances of the Uzi dance.
