As the UN-Official Retired Police Review Board for TCF, I have several questions.

1. What predicated the stop on the ambulance in the first place?............If they were truly in an emergency mode, they should have been operating with lights and sirens. If they were, why did OSP (btw, I initially thought it was Ohio State Patrol, NOW THOSE guys think they ARE God) stop them to begin with?........Some private ambulance services do not meet standards as set forth by local laws and regulations. A private ambulance or an EMS/Fire Department ambulance can be guilty of operating recklessly and subject to a pullover (even if they do have their lights/siren operating).

2. It wasn't clear why they were arresting the black guy in the red shirt. His resistance to being arrested exacerbated the situation, yet in the end, it did not look like he was arrested after all.

BUT, if there is TRULY a medical emergency patient in there, the cops should have been more tolerant in that matter either by getting another squad there or allowing the driver to contiunue on to the hospital AND then dealing with the traffic violations.

Police escorting ambulances is sometimes frowned on because of the liability incurred by the police should the ambulance get into an accident along the way.

Once again, it's easy to jump to conclusions until ALL the circumstances are known.

As far as that cop being fired, should the whole scenario play out like it was recorded, then he should be. But that snippet of cell phone video may not be telling the entire story............

What could they have done, with a patient on board, to warrant that kind of treatment? That couldn't have been handled over the phone or after the call at the ER? Private ambulance or not (and it doesn't appear this was), no public safety "professional" would jeopardize patient care.

In 20 years in EMS I've had police complain about me to management a couple times over the phone and sometimes I got chewed out by management. Sometimes management saw my side. But 99% of them would run head first through block walls to help us on a call.

I think I just saw the other 1%.

I just cant fathom a scenario where police would need to stop a Ambulance en route to the ER. Couldn't they handle it after they dropped of the patient? Would they pull over a Fire Truck on the way to a fire? I just don't get it.

If you were driving an ambulance with a medical emergency inside...why would you stop because a cop was behind you?!?!?! The squad driver should lose his job just based on that fact. Heck, Ryan Moats didn't stop. Also, shouldn't they be able to communicate by radio? You would think they would be able to get each others frequency.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Everyone knows (*wink* at CDT) that I have a *slight* anti-cop bias, but the fewer assholes like this with badges the more likely I am to give the benefit of the doubt.

Most of the comments that I've seen so far surprisingly back my position that the OHP officer was in the wrong. Of course, there's always some asshole like this:

You're right, you do a lot more harm than good if you don't get there. We don't know if the driver was being wreckless. And that can be a matter of perspective.

Right, most calls do not warrant running "lights and sirens". We run "hot" going to the scene simply because we don't know what's going on. Information given to dispatch is unreliable.

They were transporting. In most cases, we transport with the flow of traffic. Very few patients are transported with red lights and sirens. And even then with the lights and siren, we're only ASKING for the right of way. There's no law that says anyone has to give it to us, and believe me, many don't. They're assuming it's not someone they know who needs help I guess.

The second part of that is, if you wreck with the lights and sirens, you have to justify in court needing them. Otherwise you can be sued and prosecuted. Making the EMT leave the back of the truck sets him up for "abandonment", which can get him sued and cost him his cards. No matter what the driver was doing, THAT was uncalled for. No public safety worker is going to jeopardize the patient like that. Or so I thought...

If they were driving lights and sirens, there must have been something bad wrong with the patient. There were a lot of other ways this incident could have been handled. hope we find out all the missing details. The fact that the EMT's are back to work after their employer investigated it, it doesn't sound good for the fuzz...

It was only a matter of time before Oklahoma State Trooper Daniel Martin would make headlines for losing his temper.

The trooper who made national headlines in May when he assaulted a paramedic on video for not yielding is now being accused of using excessive force against another man.

Obviously the anger management classes he was required to attend after the first incident had no effect.

Like the previous incident, this incident was also caught on a dash cam video.

But unlike the previous incident, where police refused to release the video at first, they have agreed to release this video.

You know you're a prick of a cop when people from your own hometown don't like you. Especially in a state like Oklahoma.

I was wondering why the patient wasn't being flown.

Then I realized...cycsts. On the walls of her lungs. Any doctor can tell you that the patient must be driven due to the pressure at altitude.

Those cops should be more concerned about the 2 guys dressed like priests in the red ferrari. I have it on good authority that they are commies.
