Of course, it's almost unfair to compare any remake of a Dylan song. FWIW I agree with Mac about "All along the watchtower", although at least Jimi had a great take on it and preferred his version first, Dylan's is superior.
And it's definitely unfair to compare a cover with something from Dylan's RTR tour. Freaking awesome tour/live album.
A couple of great remakes of Beatle classics were done by Joe Cocker.
A little Help from my Friends and She came in through the Bathroom Window.
I enjoy both the original and copy and that's very rare and the reason is that Cocker didnt change the chords or makeup of song but added his own special talented vocal.
Ray Charles also did some great cover versions of Beatle and other artists, but Ray is a very unique talent as well.
