I'll be watching it tonight (can't get the Browns game on local TV...have to wait until midnight and watch it on NFL Network).

Best film I've seen this year...a definite high recommendation.

AFAIC, there are only four more slots available for Best Picture nominations, as this one has one of them locked down.

I am very eager to see this. Mitch gives it an amazing review. My mom and aunt saw it this past weekend and said it was gutwrenching, but amazing.

Unbelievable. What a film. One of those movies that has you sitting stonefaced, still staring at the TV screen, long after the credits have finished rolling ... thinking about what you just saw. Which to me, is one of the ultimate compliments of a movie.

Went back and reread Mitchs review (linked below) after watching, and he hits the nail on the head. Oliver Stone did a helluva job with this film, and approached it the right way.

Powerful stuff, and a really incredible movie about one of the most tragic days in this nations history.

I'm probably going to end up buying that one...anything that good needs to be in my collection.

Really pissed that it's getting overlooked for the awards while horseshit like "Babel" gets way more attention that it deserves.

BTW, Rich, you still need to get out to the theater if you get some time over the holidays and see "The Departed" and "Casino Royale".

I just saw this movies as well over the holiday weekend.

What an amazing film, and I think even more amazing is that Oliver Stone directed this. Definitely a reminder of how awful that day was.....and that the tragic events not only affected the people in that building that were working, and the firefighters and cops that went up to save them....but also what the families of those firefighters/cops/workers went through. My God was horrible that must have been to sit glued to the TV hoping to get a glimpse of a loved one.

Just amazing how bad the communication was that day. They didn't even know Tower 2 was hit when they went in there.....and no one knew who actually went in or didn't go in to the towers. Just pure chaos.

I'm claustrophobic, so the scenes of John and Will trapped had me feeling at a loss for air several times. What awesome direction...annoying at first because it was so dark that you couldn't see anything, but the effect grew on you and was just great direction by Stone to tell their story while trapped.

The best scene was when the tower started falling.....Jesus. I wasn't in there, and I about crapped my pants. Anyway, just a great job....told the story without ever referencing terrorists, the planes crashing or Al Queda and all that.
