Favorite Actress List

Unread postby swerb » Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:36 pm

Again, still a work in progress. Looking to update both this and the actor list for front page columns ... rounding each into a Top 100.

I'm finding this list much harder to do than the actor list. I tend to overrate actresses that are hot. I also have a harder time judging actual acting ability in women for some reason.

Both lists are not necessarily ratings of pure acting ability, and are more rankings of how much I enjoy seeing these performers in film. Clearly acting ability is a big part of the formula, but probably more so in the actor list.

How come the list is only for current stars?

Would you make a list of best Baseball Players and not include Babe Ruth?

Yog, I've seen very few films pre-1970, thus the easy decision to make this a list of my favorite actresses currently. And even if I had, I'd find it tough. How do you compare Anne Bancroft and Natalie Portman?

I see your argument, it's a valid one. I'm just not qualified to compile such a list. On the other hand, I've seen everything of note from the last 35 years.

Halle Berry...I wouldn't care if she couldn't act her way out of a bathroom stall with three exit signs, I would drink her bath water after a marathon. But she is a great actress, and she is our "home girl".

Thats, right ... Bedford High School. I gotta agree on Halle Berry. I love her.

Monsters Ball ... one of the all time great female roles.

Love #36.

Ellen Burstyn's performance in Requiem For A Dream is the best perfomance by an actress, ever. She was scary good.

Julia Roberts being ranked 66 is an absolute travesty...and Ashley Judd could move up that list a little too! I'll give you that it is my opinion but aint these chick's really ranked allot higher on the pay scale too?

Sorry, I replied to that about a month ago and got no takers. I think this is a great topic and it could go on forever debating who goes where. I wanted a retort from my previous comment about the rankings...what do you think about all this?

I'm not a huge Julia Roberts fan. She was very good in "Closer" though.

I love Ashley Judd. Love her. As an actress? She's aaa-ight.

And I'm one of the guys that likes Courtney Cock better than Jen Aniston.

I'll give you some time to update that before I go on my tangent about how low you have 3 of the best actresses of our lifetime ranked so low.

Alright Wolf, you've baited me.

What movie roles from Jennifer Aniston warrant her being considered as one of the greatest actresses of this era?

And no ... Friends doesn't count.

Yeah, I know. That's how she cracked the Top Hundy at all!

Acting ability alone ... I'd have her at like #237.

I think that I lumped her in with the other two because they were ranked consecutively in order? Anyway Julia and Ashley are way low...my bad on the Aniston deal, you are 100% on the $, she isnt a top actress...but gets paid like one!

Is Hilary Swank on that list? I thought she was excellent in "Million Dollar Baby". Her name is a little "trailer park" but she has got smokin hot cans. I wouldn't mind smackin her in the ass with a wiffle bat.

No, she is not on the list. Although I agree with you she is definitely in the top 100, no doubt. Swerb said he made this list over a year ago so that might explain it. Looks like the debate is heating up Swerb. Can we get an update or what? You working on that? Holla back.

My bad, I think we replied at the same time...ish, and I did'nt see her at six where she should be.
