It's Friday night. Wife is asleep on the couch at 8 PM. No sports on. Im seraching like a maniac through my On Demand, PPV, and cable channels for a flick to watch.
One of those nights, I just couldn't decide on anything. Prolly spent close to an hour perusing through everything. I'm just about to give up, going through all my On Demand movies for the second time. Found one on Cinemax On Demand called "The Downfall".
The paragraph preview on my TVs guide said it was the story of Hitlers last week of live before blowing his brains out. Hitler, down in the bunker in Berlin, slowly losing his mind, trying to justify what he had done, and his imminent defeat.
WHAT AN AMAZING MOVIE. It's all in German, with subtitles. I can not reccomend this movie enough.
Gripping, chilling, enlightening. I've seen 30 WWII movies, all from the Allies viewpoint. Was interesting to see this chilling German perspective.
After the movie, I checked IMDB. 41st highest rated movie of all time. Film is known as Undertang, Der in German.

I could go on and on. All Hitlers top lieutenants ... Himmler, Goebbels, Rommel, et al are profiled, as is Eva Braun and her role in Hitlers life as it wound down.
Film takes place in Berlin, as the Russians close in on the city, officially ending the war.
Just an amazing movie. See it, and thank me later.
