Beverly Hills, Calif. -- The president of CBS Entertainment confirmed Tuesday that Cleveland native Drew Carey is a leading contender to replace Bob Barker on "The Price is Right." Nina Tassler, who runs the network's entertainment division, declined to use the term "front-runner," but she left no doubt that Carey is being courted.
"Yes, we are in talks with Drew," Tassler told TV critics gathered for their semi-annual press tour meetings with network, cable and PBS programmers, producers and stars. "It would be stupid of us not to be in talks with Drew. I really don't want to comment any further about the other choices because it wouldn't be fair to the other people involved in the search."

Loved the Cleveland Indians comment on the end. Maybe Drew will be able to pimp the Browns, Cavs, and Tribe on the show in some way.
Definitely glad it's Carey and not Rosie. With all the military people that show up for that show I'm surprised that they ever considered Rosie. Imagine what she'd do to a contestant who didn't agree with her opinion.
I'll have to record Drew's debut and see how he does. It'll be weird without Barker there.

Rosie would have tried to eat the contestants.

Drew Carey is a soccer fan? What went wrong in his life that drove him to that? My opinion of the man just dropped exponentially.

Drew became a soccer fan because he wanted to support a LA team but couldn't support any teams that competed with Cleveland teams. So he became a big fan of the Galaxy and the national team. It's awesome. His travel channel show where he went to Germany for the World Cup was very good.
