Grabbed this off WiscTribeFan's FB: http://heraldnews.suntimes.com/23402103 ... -life.html

Frank Perconte, the oldest living member of Easy Company portrayed in Band of Brothers, died last week. He was 96.

No surprise, but not many of these guys left: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_Company, ... ted_States)

Sad to have to bump this thread, but Bill Guarnere passed away yesterday.

Those guys launched the brotherhood of soldiers that exist today. You look at the legendary involvement in Bastogne and everywhere else and I truly think they were responsible for the Esprit de Corps that still carries on in groups of soldiers today.

People will tell you that camraderie is dead and buried by technology and tactical/weaponry changes.

It's not. Not at the base level. You read Lone Survivor or House to House (especially this if you want an infantry and non-special forces look) and it's there. But read The Longest Winter, No Silent Night, Alamao in the Ardennes, If You Survive first. You'll see what lasting effect those guys had.

So, Easy Company not only helped win a war, but they continue to do so today in many ways.
