Naturally, "Rock" is loosely defined, so if you consider Eminem or Outkast or the Beastie Boys to be "Rock", feel free to use them (if you feel their albums qualify as "Best" of course. Also feel free to use more than one album by a particular artist.

'cause if we were to consider the former, then for example some U2 pre-sellout album (Joshua Tree?) might be included - not that I am a bigfan but it's hard to overlook their influence

I'd go more along the line of what you liked best. There are many albums that could be considered important or influential, but I don't particularly care for them myself.

motherscratcher wrote:This was hard. I eliminated any rap, jazz, and blues. I included only records that I own, because if I don't own it, how can I call it my top ten? One album per group. Some tough omissions.
In no order:
1. Van Halen - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge
2. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. U2 - Joshua Tree
4. Metallica - Master of Puppets
5. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic
6. Pearl Jam - Ten
7. Nirvana - Nevermind
8. Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies
9. Green Day - Dookie
10. Guns n Roses - Appetite For Destruction
I know there isn't anything very obscure here, but these albums were popular as hell for a reason.

Speaking of torrents, does anyone recommend a nice safe torrent site?

http://btjunkie.org/
Huge site, tons of torrents, i've never had a single problem with the DLs. The only one I use.
According to my Antivirus, The Pirate Bay has "active threats" on just about every page, not really sure what that means, but I quit using it.
