They didn't announce it was in limited release until earlier this week...which really pissed me off.

Not playing anywhere in NC. I might have to see if it's playing in Orlando, since I'm going to be there Saturday and Sunday. If not...just have to wait a few weeks.

I hate this time of year, when top movies are given a release date for nationwide release, then they bait and switch and do a limited release. Loveley Bones was supposed to be everywhere on Dec. 11, but now it's not going to be seen outside of LA/NY/CHI until January.

Just finished the book. Really,really liked it.

I think the boy was not the man's real child. If the boy was his, the mother would not of committed suicide. She would live to protect him. I think her baby died in childbirth. This is an adopted child. When the man takes the boy to his childhood home, he never mentions to the boy that his grandparents lived here or any special family memories. If it was his child he would address him by his name.

Second, I would head north and not south. If you want to find plants and animals that could live in extreme cold with little sunlight that would be the place to go. I imagine the artic would have some species prospering.

I wish he explained more about the event and made the book 3 times as long. Give me the whole story, just prior to the event, and thru the time of the man's death. Too much is left to guess about.

Great ,great story though. I fear the movie will not live up.

Just saw a bootlegged DVD of the Road. It stays pretty true to the book. Includes a little more of the wife than the book did and glosses over a few scenes like when the dad swims out to the boat.

All in all the movie was as true to the book as any book/movie deal I've ever seen.


Still makes me mad they didn't bolt the hatch and stay in the bomb shelter for 2-3 years until the food ran out. By that time the canibals would of starved to death.

I really don't think you're right. The author didn't give the characters names because it wasn't important to the story.

And I don't see how you think the child was adopted. The boy was born into an apocalyptic world and was the man's only reason for living. In the book and the movie the man says that if the boy were to die then he would want to die too. I just don't see adoption coming into that story anyway whatsoever. You're overthinking it.

Anyway the DVD comes out May 25th.

You right. I was off on that line of thinking. Still question that the mother would commit suicide and leave her kid. Seems like something most mothers wouldn't do.
