I think I finally figured out Rizzo's infatuation with having a Goldhammer on the show.
He came up with Lannigan and Webster. Learned the "funny guy who needs someone to play off of" bit.
And who will ever forget Thor Tolo and Paul Tapei who listened to sports radio in the early 90's?
IIRC he had a sidekick with him at WHK.
He commented after doing the Rome show that the whole Hammer doing show tunes was staged, that he "took one for the team."
That sort of schtick works in Cleveland. The land of Hoolihan and Big Chuck. But I doubt he'll ever go into syndication. I don't think many people outside the market get it.
