64 Greatest Comedies Bracket - CADDYSHACK = WINNER

I don't get the love for Ferris Bueller. It's a dated, campy 80's movie. I don't even know if I'd call it a "comedy", at least not in the same vein. as the rest of the 64 bracket.

It's not in the same ballpark as the other top 8. Hell, it's not even in the same league.

Probably true but it's had the easiest run of any of the 8. There's a lot of hatred for Anchorman from people who only watched it once. Just one of those movies you have to catch multiple times to realize just how funny it is from scene to scene. And no one alive in the 80s didn't find FB both funny and entertaining. The movie isn't dated so much as it's nostalgic.

Nice to see Office Space winning tho it's going to get crushed in the next round. Still this was Animal House and Caddyshack's battle since day one and I'm pretty sure Caddyshack gets the nod from the people who frequent this site.

I'm absolutely amazed Office Space is beating Blazing Saddles, however Airplane is considered one of the all time comedies (I did vote for Monty Python). If you google something close to "top comedies of all time" you will see Airplane finishing in the top 5 of many lists. I even saw it #1 on a few lists.

Still on a collision course for House vs Shack!

Man I LOVE Christmas Vacation, several laugh out loud moments, and lots of quotable lines, but even as good as this movie is, it is STILL overmatched by the classic Animal House.

Ferris Bueller's surprising run to the Elite 8 will end now.

The other two #1 seeds will be in a dogfight!

I think the committee overvalued Blazing Saddles in making them a number 1, and it MIGHT be vulnerable here to a comedy that I have to believe more of this board has seen. Not saying the Saddle isn't hillarious, cuz it is, but it is on upset alert.

The Grail is hysterical, but I guess you have to GET that British humor to really enjoy it. I voted for it over Airplane. "How do you know he's a king?" "Cuz he aint got **** all over him!"

Airplane is overrated, it's funny, but as far as the Zucker brothers go The Naked Gun was better than Airplane. JMHO

That's a little harsh. The scene where Belushi grabs the hippie's guitar and smashes it into a hundred pieces is a top ten all time comedy film moment.

Its harsh, but its the truth from my perspective. Everyone is different, like I said I've watched the movie 3 times and have yet to really laugh yet. The first time my expectations were out of control so it was easy to be dissapointed. But the following two times I watched it I wasn't expecting much and still didn't find the jokes funny. I had been through a crazy fraternity before I watched it so I'm sure that affected how I enjoyed it. Its just one of those movies I don't understand the love for......but I feel like that happens in comedies more than other genres, different things make different people laugh.

I didn't vote but I'll comment anyway. I preface this by saying I'm old; I mean OLD! So keep that in mind.

On the list, I loved Young Frankenstein. Marty Feldman & Kenneth Mars in one movie. I laughed so hard at MASH(the movie, not the series)that I was hoarse the next day. I think Art Carney was the funniest man of all time. I think that the funniest scene in a movie was the courtroom scene in "How to Murder Your Wife" when Jack Lemmon puts his lawyer on the stand. Last, even though it wasn't mentioned in the 64 greatest OR the AFI list, "No Time For Sergeants" is, IMO, the funniest movie of all time.

Oh my LORD is that movie funny. I completely forgot about that one. My co-worker lent the video to me a couple years back and I'm so glad she did. I can never NOT laugh when I think of the "gloppita-gloppita" machine.
