While I am not an addict these early shows are awesome. I love watching Simon just rip in to some dumb American for thinking they have skill. That is funny stuff. Seriously do their families not have the heart to tell them and instead let them get embarassed in front of 30 mil?

The only one I watched religiously was the Carrie Underwood one... for obvious reasons :wow:

I do get irritated when it comes on though because it is the only thing on TV, no one wants to challenge it because the ratings are so high.

ziner, i was actually going to start a thread on this same exact subject. I love watching the auditions, i dont know where they get these people from. They sound like aliens, monsters, 2 year old babies, dikembe mutumbo, macy gray, and every other bad sound you can think of.

This show might be the worst of TV sometimes, but these opening episodes are the best of making fun of Americans.

I don't usually watch this show, but from what I have seen the early auditions illustrate so much of what is wrong with this country. These people go through life being completely coddled, being told they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, etc. Their expectations are so high, they think they can have and do anything they want to. Damn, I get that parents should encourage their kids to reach for the stars, but you also have to make sure that they know how to accept their limitations.

And semi-related, last year in Seattle I saw the kid that Simon called a "bush baby" or something working at a Macaroni Grill. It was pretty hilarious.

Love this show. It is a guilty pleasure of mine if for no other reason than it gets all of us in the household to sit down together. Me, the wife, my soon-to-be 5 year old son, and my son-to-be 3 year old daughter. They love the "people sing" show. My son actually busted out laughing at all the people that sucked tonight, especially the one guy who was hilarious where Simon couldn't understand him he said in any language.

Me personally, I like this show the most in the Hollywood round and also the pre-lim round before the final 12 when they are at the final 24 stage or whatever.

AI is a guilty pleasure of mine....especially since the entire family likes it and I can kill two birds with one stone and spend some "quality" time with everyone.

That said, this season has stunk so far. The production the past two weeks for each round of 12 has been awful. The singers aside from 3-4 have sucked. Brutal. Why in the hell did they go with this new format of 36 people and eliminating everyone but 3 of the 12 each week?

Too many people got through to this round if you ask me, and I much liked the old way where they had 24 people broken into two groups of 12 and 2 people from each group were eliminated each week. At least you had a chance to see some of these people more than once and let some build some momentum. Instead, we see 36 people one time and then go right to the Final 12.....whereas before you saw the Final 12 people 3 times.

This season is awful, I think they have exhausted the talent of America. Additionally I complain about the lack of hot chicks. I have yet to see an Underwood, Pickler, or McPhee.

This touches on one of The Lead Man's keys to wagering Idol. Finding a chick that is 10-15 lbs. over fighting weight. Once they get a hold of you out there they know what to do. Underwood was not smokin' hot when the show began, by the finals all of America wanted to, as Austin Carr would say, "throw the hammer down!!!"

Same thing w/ McPhee.

Poor year talent wise, and soooo many people that cannot win simply based on the fact they are annoying as hell.

Yeah, he is interesting....you either love him or hate him.

I think at this point the only two worth a damn are the two guys who finished the shows (conveniently) the last two weeks: Adam and that Danny guy who lost his wife. Everyone else sucks.

And I don't see if with all the love they gave that 16-year old redhead last night. She has potential, but I she's a box of rocks and not all that great. Kerry Underwood absolutely SMOKED on that same song when she was on and it was here breakout on the show....and this redhead pales in comparison.

Not Lead's cup of tea either, but the Lead Man does not bet with his heart.

Theatrical experience will make him comfortable on stage and he looks to be a guy who will be smart with his song choices, which is key. I mean, look at those song choices last night. the world's music catalog open to you and people are picking those songs? Christ.

Lead, can we get weekly power rankings once the final set is determined in a week or so? I also disliked the dude who ended last night. A little too over the top for me. I did enjoy Danny and the blonde chick (Alexis?) who made it through last week, as well as Allison who sang "Alone" by Heart last night. I actually also liked Kai last night when he sang "What becomes of the broken hearted", but he got terrible reviews.

They made the right choices for the wildcards except one.

Tattiana? Are you effing kidding me? This HAS to be not a request from the judges but from the producers since they *think* she makes for great TV. I hope to God she is not selected tonight.....and I can gaurantee it comes down to her and someone else for the final spot.

Jasmine Murray is a lock, the Janet Jackson look-a-like....but outside of that I see no clear favorites. My next best choices are Megan since they said they clearly loved her and probably Von.

But please, no Tattiana. How does someone who acts like this have anyone who likes her?

Great story and I know it's a popularity contest but the talent isn't there.
He might just win it though.

I saw that dude last fall in Kalamazoo (I was there for work, one of our big manufacturing hubs is there) at a place called Monaco Bay. Dude stood on the piano and sang "Crazy Bitch", really had the place rocking. Didn't realize it was the same guy until they showed one of his clips during his intro the other night. Pretty cool.

Also, agree with everyone on Tattiana. That chick is terrible.

This is the problem with capping Idol this year, that is, it's too early to say ANYONE's walking away with it. By the top 12 in past years you saw these people perform 7-8 times. You had an idea of versatility and if they were going to be able to pick good songs. Lil Rounds is a favorite, but what if there's a genre she's clueless at. What if she picks the same songs? For the Idol wagerer - these are keys.

There was a time when you could set your watch the the Lead Man's Idol picks.

He's got his work cut out in this format.

I am a believer in the Lead Man's Idol picking prowess...I've been watching for years.

You are correct, I may be jumping on the LiL Round Bandwagon a bit early due to how LITTLE we've really seen of her or anybody else. (BTW, in case you hadn't noticed...her Little Rounds are ANYTHING, but little....just sayin)

HOWEVER, I think she avoids most of the Lead Man's warning signs of a contestant that will soon be sent to pasture.

Maybe we need to post up the final 13 and start throwing some predictions out there :cheers:

If Adam Lambert makes it more than about 3-4 more weeks I am not watching anymore. I despise his type more than anyone. Awful (dare I say queer) haircut, painted black nails, skinny jeans, starved for attention, girly necklace, awful, just awful... then he sings and I find him even more annoying and despicable. He is a more feminine Pete Wentz wanna-be. They loved him too, unreal. Let me add that even more annoying is that Paula loves him.

Yeah I know, I think he is a likeable so I probably give him too much benefit of the doubt. I think he sticks around though. There were some awful performances last night. Rockin' Robin was horrid.

I think Lambert will also pull the Aiken vote so he will go far... :bag:

I think he is a putrid singer and I dont get the hype about him

This years winner will be a guy though, none of the girls are going to win.

Danny, him and girl with pink hair have the best vocals with Lil Rounds close behind. You seem to be a Lambert-Hata due to his Clayish appearance and performances. Fact is, he probably has the best stage presence. He seems very natural on stage and nothing seems forced.

Megan Joy Corkrey has great vocals and is easy on the eyes minus the NBAish tat on her arm, but her choice of Rockin Robin was terrible

Go to any mall these days and you will see that you are probably more different looking compared to others than Lambert. I thought all of the contestants last night aside from Beat It Anoop and Rockin Robin Megan were all at least good to great. Anoop SHOULD go home, but likely won't since he is so likeable. Megan is gonzo. Now, who the other person will be is interesting, and although I thought he did better than I expected, Michael Sarber is my pick to go home with Megan.

The ONLY girl who has a chance to make it to the Top 3-4 is the redhead whose name escapes me at the moment, and I am not a fan of her's at all. Lil Rounds to me is all hype and is just a poor-woman's Latoya London. She'll get boring fast, and will be gone by the Top 5-6.

I really liked the two dudes on the piano. Scott is not a great vocalist, but good God watching him and listening to him and hearing his and his sister's ordeal with blindness brought a few tears to my eye last night when he performed. Good for him! I'm a fan and hope he goes far....flat out amazing and inspiring.

I think this thing comes down to Danny and someone else in the Finals, and that this thing is Danny's to lose. He is awesome. Adam has the stage presence, but I think in a few weeks he might start to turn some people off and there is no telling what kind of effect the gay pictures of him going around the internet will have on his votes going forward, especially when the mainstream media picks up on it. Evenso, Adam will be around for awhile.

After three week rounds the last three weeks, I felt that last night's show was surprisingly very good. And they really pulled off the Jackson stuff well.

He's got the most range of anyone there, by a margin. Hel'll prove to be versatile and appears to be able to pick songs.

The key, as Lead mentioned earlier, and Tony reiterated, is how he comes off. If he doesn't get real arrogant and keeps himself likeable and the gay stuff doesn't go hog wild, he'll be tough to beat.

Danny, Adam, the dueling piano and the young red-head can win. And, while the red head is the longest shot of the four to win, she's going to make $$$$$ in the future.

Yeah, Anoop was strong tonight. Also, the last guy Matt Giraud (SP) I think just became a dark horse to win this thing. It absolutely without a doubt will be a dude this year. No female is strong enough. The redhead is the best and will be the last one standing, but the others should be long gone where there could very well be 5 dudes in the final 6.

Anyway, God, I hate country week. Terrible. That said, they all sounded at least good tonight with the exception of Megan who I think is awful and shoulda gone home last week. I think Michael Sarber, Lil Rounds, and M egan are the ones in trouble....with Megan sliding through since she is getting the "Vote For The Worst" vote at the moment and it usually carries these people through to the Top 8.

Still think Danny is the one to beat. Love that dude. And Lambert is gonna fade and be gone by the Top 6.
