I here what you are saying and there is much merit to it, but some guys like me are just competitive beyond belief, which makes any pool intriguing. Winning and being competitive is what drives my pocket book.

To further illustrate my point, I wager, on average, 2-3 grand every weekend (college football, pro football, NASCAR, etc) which pales in comparision to the pools, but it is the competitive factor that drives me to play the pools, regardless of how much the pool winnings are. Having 'Action' all the time and competing against ALL rollers is a given for Action Boy.

Last but not least, I can understand you questioning the validity of the rollers who claim to be the next great answer to beating the books as I would too. I have seen and heard it all. I won't bore you with the details but I can assure you that all of my past records are legitimate and can be backed by any number of my friends....afterall they are enjoying the "green" as well. The Lead Man just back into town and he sees the action heating up on this thread. A few quick things to address, or a better word would be clarify. In no particular order.

1. The Lead Man has acknowledged several times that his start is not meeting his per usual standards. It's been refered to in print and on the radio. So, if there's a "white elephant" it's been pointed out. (Claiming it to be a 30% white elephant, would not be accurate, however.)

2. The Lead Man has always said the more the merrier. If someone is hitting a higher % then Lead, why would you think he'd be the least upset? Lead makes wagers, he makes them accurately, and his opponent is 52.4, not anyone else. If Lead has the lowest % of all us players out there, we'll be in good shape.

3. Lead did not know he was obligated to all the contests on the site, including the offers e-mailed that aren't on these boards. "Avoiding like the plague" or "ducking" those contests? Lead did the baseball ones because he had the time, the football season he just has too many irons in the fire, so much so, that he didn't even get to the point of looking at the value of those contests. To be clear, the Lead Man isn't the least bit embarrassed to lose a contest. One would think that even the best player is going to lose many more of these than actually win, so why would Lead worry about it?

4. As far as the "Lead Man hype" goes. Any hype that a mook who picks games on an internet message board while talking in the third person generates, he deserves. Understand that Lead again welcomes any player that can attract about the 5 followers which would enable them to exceed the Lead Man's hype to have at it.

Lastly, as Peeker mentioned, anyone riding a 70-80% clip, The Lead Man is interested. Lead is not here to battle, he's here to make money. So, if guys are requesting someone to step in, they can either A.) Contact Lead and we'll work together and make sure that vocie/words are heard or B) Show the powers to be the data and they can make the decision to replace the Lead Man with said player. Option B is not unattractive to Lead. It would relieve him of the time each week to write the article and conduct the show, and he'd have another source of info on games.

Next show is Friday. Let Lead know winning player, and we'll get you on the air.

He puts his picks out there weekly for all to see, nothing to hide. He's not a hump ala the Dr. Ron Bash, the Legend Kevin Duffy, or the Great Stu Feiner.

He's not a tout service where half the country gets one side and the other half gets the other to keep business flowing.

I know sometimes his picks are Jim Feist-like but the man's track record speaks for himself.

Didn't enter MLB III because I smartly didn't want to lose money again. But I did monitor the league and gotta say that Lead Pipe did bail out. He may see it as not having enough time because

he just has too many irons in the fire, so much so, that he didn't even get to the point of looking at the value of those contests.

Oh please, picking a team is not rocket science.

How much time do you need to pick a team even if you just threw out a haphazard guess for the remainder of the teams you had left to FINISH the 30 game contest? I see it as a sore loser.

Should have finished the contest, to be sure. It is worth noting that at the time the Lead Man bailed he was not close to being mathematically eliminated. Seeing as how the contest ended up, with several excellent marks, he would have come up short, but the fact of the matter is be wasn't eliminated before he stopped.

One big point here Lu. The Lead Man loses many contests. It's the nature of the game. So he certainly isn't afraid to lose. One Lead rule everyone is aware of is the 90% rule. One thing that naturally evolved from this Lead rule of life is Lead Man not really caring about what people think. So, if you consider Lead a sore loser, that's your opinion. Understand though, there is no need to apologize, because Lead doesn't care.

I myself look over Leads picks as well as a few others, and use the information to make my own decisions, I've won alot of money with lead over the past few years, but the man isnt the savior, he's just a guy with good knowledge who isn't afraid to put his picks online, sure he talks himself up in his articles, its hysterical I think.
