Lead is joining us from North Carolina but I need callers to fill the 57 minutes he typically fills with his unique brand of crap.

Thanks Kyle. Kind of winging it solo but many thanks to Greg Sidoris from www.lasvegascasinohosts.com for stepping in and helping me through it in a big way.

Going to Vegas? Greg will set you up. Check out the site and give him a call.

Good point.

You should never, ever put your money in banks or invest in any stocks either based on the past 6 weeks. Never mind the facts and the numbers over the previous years.

Go bigger Gridlock. Maybe you can get WAMU or AIG for $0.45 on the dollar too.

This is like watching CNN after a debate.... a lil' slanted.

I hear ya Peekachu...I hear ya..."look over the long haul".......I just think it wouldn't kill anyone to eat a slice of humble pie either....or just change the drum beat slightly ?

I get your "Pipe = cyclical Market"...long term always goes up... comparison. Totally irrelevant to the point at hand...since no one's denying past performances, and I'm only talking current slump.......But since you're comparing The Economy and Pipe...

Similarly....$700billion Bailout = Pipes MLB III bailout. (FINISH the game man !!)

Conversely... like ExxonMobil making record profits during this same slump....there ARE some fella's out there hitting 7 nails on the head out of 10....rather than 3.

Can't you bring THEM off the bench ?? Even Tressel will sit a 5th yr proven senior for a hot true freshman....no?

All in good fun Peek...just addressing the white elephant in the room.

Gridlock. None of us heard from you over the past couple years. Not til the road got bumpy over a 6 week period. No comments on the ridculous past couple years. Those results were acceptable, right? I mean, from a credibilty standpoint might you better off acknowledging that before lamenting the rought times? Just sayin'...

You wouldn't have any links or documentation would ya? Because a lot of us would love to get down with that guy. Including me and Lead and anyone who follows the show and his picks. But somehow I'm thinking we're not gonna get a name or actual documentation. For whatever reason.

Can't you bring THEM off the bench ?? Even Tressel will sit a 5th yr proven senior for a hot true freshman....no?

Yes. Again, I will call them myself and get them on the show too. I just need those names.

All in good fun Peek...just addressing the white elephant in the room.

I dig it man. You're right. Just saying you shouldn't be afraid to drop in and drop a note when things are good. And don't look now sir, but I see Kansas and OK State are already on the good side of the line today. :nanner: (cash)

Good luck sir. If nothing else, the host of that show has a voice you could listen to for days.

A year and a half ??? Peekachu...come up for air man.

I got my ass handed to me in MLB II (the last one Pipe played all the way through)

Not my place to call out names.....but look through MLB 3....and JP's Survivor...and Pick 17....(which Pipe avoided like the plague)......there are 2-3 guys that make Pipe look like little red riding hood...lost in the woods.

There have been posters calling for these guys to take over the airwaves.

And AGAIN....I give Pipe all the props in the world...he's had an unbelievable 3 year run from what I can see in your archives.......NO ONE is denying that...

I'm just saying....as a relative newcomer to this County.....I think there are a couple new sherriffs in town.

Ok...gotta go watch Pavlick dominate.

I hope Pipe picked Hopkins !!

(all in FUN peekachu...go take a pill)

God I hope ya didn't wager on Pavlik dominating. :thud:

I hear ya. No names on the 70%ers. You can't shake a tree without those guys falling out so they shouldn't be too tough to find.

Although I have to wonder why theyr'e cocking around in $50 internet pools. Image

Let the 70%ers know the call in number. We have to get those cats on the air. And I could use the extra cash too. ;-) ;)

Peeker,

In reading the posts, I noticed the comment about the Survivor game being run J.P. I for one think the pool has some value ($50 entry fee) considering the winner take all pot is $4,500. Not to mention as the defending champion of Survivor the pot of $6,000 last year wasn't too bad either.

They all have value AB. But guys who just knock down 70% like they're falling off a chair are wasting themselves at that money. They should own hotels and empires in Vegas and Macau. Not cocking around with us low rollers.

Shit, If I'm guaranteed 70% like GridLock is saying why woulld you go to work every day? I gotta believe there's either a wee bit-a-bullshittin' going on or the biggest waste of talent since Len Bias.

I here what you are saying and there is much merit to it, but some guys like me are just competitive beyond belief, which makes any pool intriguing. Winning and being competitive is what drives my pocket book.

To further illustrate my point, I wager, on average, 2-3 grand every weekend (college football, pro football, NASCAR, etc) which pales in comparision to the pools, but it is the competitive factor that drives me to play the pools, regardless of how much the pool winnings are. Having 'Action' all the time and competing against ALL rollers is a given for Action Boy.

3) Pipe must be cocking around with HUGE rollers....if taking $5000 worth of candy from us Pavlik fan babies isn't even worth a try ?? Wow.

Your words G-Lock. I'm spinning nothing. I'm still all ears as to getting behind these cats. Spread the wealth with the names and contact info and I'll sing their names and praises to all 7 people who listen the show. :lmfao:

I don't recall any guarantees out of the show's camp. But we all hear what we want to hear I suppose.

I haven't heard from you ever sir. Not that I know of anyway. That was kind of the point of my initial response. Not til some struggles (which no one is denying either) did ya take the time. And I've taken up too much of your time already. Appreciate ya droppin' in on the low rollers though. Cheers.

1) That's not a guarantee peek...re-read.
2) The only additional hype you pipers could bestow...would be to lay palms down E 9th on a Sunday....and have him ride a donkey to the Stadium !
3) I've been golfing on draft day at 5:45 a.m. at Bunker Hill...."I've been around man"
4) You're right..... .700 was out of line ! It's more like .800 since 2007.
4) Take your pick...

Quoting that last post would be pointless. I'm one of three people in the thread and I'm not sure I know where it's taking me.

I like the palm leaves and donkey idea though. It's got some pop, some sizzle. :thumb up:

I'm completely lost on the Bunker Hill reference and I would sincerely congratulate you on the MLB Pick30 2nd place thing but it appears your previous post was pretty much entirely devoted to that end.

I'm sure you're a straight-up dude because Rich typically surrounds himself with those types of folks, but you'll forgive me looking for a bit more regarding the tout services and picks. As you may be aware, those fellas tend to be a bit manipulative with the info they provide. ;-) ;) There is that history in the industry. I'm not saying you're that guy. I'm just saying it's caveat emptor with anyone in that line of work/pleasure.

Other than that though GL, I'm not sure what else to tell ya. Are ya asking if Pipe's picks are down from the pace of the past few years? Yeah, they are.

Are ya asking for the ridiculous nature of the articles and the show to be toned down as a result? Not gonna happen. It's kind of the point of both exercises. But I do appreciate you keeping it civil. Hopefully you're of the opinion that worked both ways.

Action Boy- I hear ya. I get the competitive thing and you're right. It's still about wins and losses and being better than the other guy and it always will be. Doesn't matter whether its playing ball, poker or putting money down based on your time and research.

Best of luck to you both at it too. Anybody but the house (unless you're the house).

Peeker,

Best of luck to you as well.......It has been a fun and civil discussion. I am looking forward to continuing to pad my pockets with the houses cash.

Last but not least, I can understand you questioning the validity of the rollers who claim to be the next great answer to beating the books as I would too. I have seen and heard it all. I won't bore you with the details but I can assure you that all of my past records are legitimate and can be backed by any number of my friends....afterall they are enjoying the "green" as well. Have a good one.

Unread postby leadpipe » Mon Oct 20, 2008 2:11 am

The Lead Man just back into town and he sees the action heating up on this thread. A few quick things to address, or a better word would be clarify. In no particular order.

1. The Lead Man has acknowledged several times that his start is not meeting his per usual standards. It's been refered to in print and on the radio. So, if there's a "white elephant" it's been pointed out. (Claiming it to be a 30% white elephant, would not be accurate, however.)

2. The Lead Man has always said the more the merrier. If someone is hitting a higher % then Lead, why would you think he'd be the least upset? Lead makes wagers, he makes them accurately, and his opponent is 52.4, not anyone else. If Lead has the lowest % of all us players out there, we'll be in good shape.

3. Lead did not know he was obligated to all the contests on the site, including the offers e-mailed that aren't on these boards. "Avoiding like the plague" or "ducking" those contests? Lead did the baseball ones because he had the time, the football season he just has too many irons in the fire, so much so, that he didn't even get to the point of looking at the value of those contests. To be clear, the Lead Man isn't the least bit embarrassed to lose a contest. One would think that even the best player is going to lose many more of these than actually win, so why would Lead worry about it?

4. As far as the "Lead Man hype" goes. Any hype that a mook who picks games on an internet message board while talking in the third person generates, he deserves. Understand that Lead again welcomes any player that can attract about the 5 followers which would enable them to exceed the Lead Man's hype to have at it.

Lastly, as Peeker mentioned, anyone riding a 70-80% clip, The Lead Man is interested. Lead is not here to battle, he's here to make money. So, if guys are requesting someone to step in, they can either A.) Contact Lead and we'll work together and make sure that vocie/words are heard or B) Show the powers to be the data and they can make the decision to replace the Lead Man with said player. Option B is not unattractive to Lead. It would relieve him of the time each week to write the article and conduct the show, and he'd have another source of info on games.

Next show is Friday. Let Lead know winning player, and we'll get you on the air.

Swerb paid me $10 in past-due fantasy transaction fees to rile you guys up.....shake things up a bit....perhaps an effort to bust a slump?

A la Rocky 3...when Apollo is sparring with Rock....and Rock's stuck in the corner, taking punishment...."he's hookin' he's hookin'...DAMN Rock...what's the matter with you ? Let's do it tomorrow. There IS no tomorrow....there IS no tomorrow!!"..........

which provokes that installment's denouement...

Adrian: What's the truth dammit ?
Rocky: I'm afraid ! All right ? You want to hear me say it? You want to break me down? All right, I'm afraid. For the first time in my life, I'm afraid
Adrian: Why? You're human aren't you?
Rocky: And what if I lose?
Adrian: Then you lose. But you lose with no excuses, no fear. And I know you can live with that.

Mission accomplished.

Myself ? I haven't won a wager, friendly or otherwise, in 11 years.....that is verifiable... lol

So I feel partially responsible for dragging Pipe down.....least I could do was splash some water in his face....get him in the corner...throw some hooks. Bust this slump !!

Watch the magic. Thank me later.

Go get 'em Pipe.

All in good fun fella's.

Lead Pipe serves this website nicely. :salut:

He puts his picks out there weekly for all to see, nothing to hide. He's not a hump ala the Dr. Ron Bash, the Legend Kevin Duffy, or the Great Stu Feiner. :hic:

He's not a tout service where half the country gets one side and the other half gets the other to keep business flowing.

I know sometimes his picks are Jim Feist-like but the man's track record speaks for himself. (cash)

Any guy who talks in the third person about himself is too legit to quit, cue Hamma. Can't touch Lead. :nanner: :dingle: :nanner: :dingle:
"It's all about winning for me, and I think the Cavs are committed to doing that," he said. "But at the same time I've given myself options to this point, and like I said before, me and my team, we have a game plan that we're going to execute, and we'll see what we get."

"We had a great time together."

Didn't enter MLB III because I smartly didn't want to lose money again. But I did monitor the league and gotta say that Lead Pipe did bail out. He may see it as not having enough time because
he just has too many irons in the fire, so much so, that he didn't even get to the point of looking at the value of those contests.
Oh please, picking a team is not rocket science.

How much time do you need to pick a team even if you just threw out a haphazard guess for the remainder of the teams you had left to FINISH the 30 game contest? I see it as a sore loser.

Sorry that's my take.

Should have finished the contest, to be sure. It is worth noting that at the time the Lead Man bailed he was not close to being mathematically eliminated. Seeing as how the contest ended up, with several excellent marks, he would have come up short, but the fact of the matter is be wasn't eliminated before he stopped.

One big point here Lu. The Lead Man loses many contests. It's the nature of the game. So he certainly isn't afraid to lose. One Lead rule everyone is aware of is the 90% rule. One thing that naturally evolved from this Lead rule of life is Lead Man not really caring about what people think. So, if you consider Lead a sore loser, that's your opinion. Understand though, there is no need to apologize, because Lead doesn't care.

Lead appreciates the invite to the football contest you extended at the beginning of the season. Hope you take home the cash.

Some of you people need to chill out, the man offers picks, if you don't like em don't use them. So you lost some money maybe, are those the only picks you made? can you not come up with anything of your own. I myself look over Leads picks as well as a few others, and use the information to make my own decisions, I've won alot of money with lead over the past few years, but the man isnt the savior, he's just a guy with good knowledge who isn't afraid to put his picks online, sure he talks himself up in his articles, its hysterical I think. You people need to grow up its all about entertainment it makes for a good read, Even with losing weeks I'm still making money on Leads picks, if he loses the first couple I'll load up on the rest. Get a strategy, a game plan.

Nowhere near 5 minutes to say "toolbox". Adjust downward. Guess some of us have more time since we're not continuously raking in cash and rollin' large. :thumb up:
