? Not to mention I hope you don't think I was really filing a protest, haha.

Anyhow, I did that as strategy, also. I figured picks had to be made before post-time, since I'm sure Swerb doesn't monitor first pitch time for every game over a 50 day contest.

Clearly you have foiled my plan. Should of waited until Sunday when the Marlins play before the Rangers, or just picked the Rangers earlier. It's all going to be moot, anyhow.

Here's a question for you, Pipe:

Say I don't pick the Rangers tonight, but pick Philly tomorrow and hit on them. Sunday comes, do you take the Marlins if I haven't posted my pick by then? Or do you wait until the 4:00 game and take Rangers if I take them between 2:20 & 4:00, but take no one if I don't pick the Rangers that day and leave the Marlins in the bag?

If you wouldn't have picked them tonight, I would have taken the Marlins tomorrow, thus forcing you to take the Rangers, against an all-star pitcher, and at the same time eliminating Hamels. From a strategy standpoint that was the way to go.

I'm now playing the hypothetical game.

If you don't pick the Rangers on Friday night(but I still do), you then skip Saturday and take the Marlins today and Rangers tomorrow, correct? Or do you take Rangers today to avoid going against King Felix, and take the Marlins tomorrow.

Shaping up to look like it would come down to Monday, if I somehow could of slipped that Rangers pick by you.

Throwing all strategy out, the pick would have been the Rangers Friday (by far the best Ranger bet with four days left) and the Marlins Monday. Padiila is the only thing close to a starting pitcher I trust on the Rangers, and you can't go against the King. With those games left, and if you were in a vaccum, I'm not sure you could play it any other way.

Big, big ups to Lead Pipe, who takes Phase 2, and $720, with a superb 23-7 record. Pipe also took Phase I with a 21-9 mark.

And for that matter, congrads to Carolina as well for a great phase. 22-8 is a strong, strong mark in this pool, which has humbled many of us through the first two phases.

We're gonna take a couple weeks off and start Phase III on Aug 11. It will go through the end of the season on Sept 28. We'll run three phases a year, every year. And I am keeping historical records for all playas, so on that note, the pool still has one day left for anyone with teams remaining.

IIRC, Lead was like 34-14 ATS on our front page last season. It would have been much better than that, but it took weeks of negotations to ink him to a lucrative multi-year deal. We didn't get him on board till like week 6.

For us? 7 winning weeks, most were a bood bath to the house. One losing week where he went 2-3-1.

First five weeks pre-TCF were documented elsewhere. I wanna say he had 13 winning weeks. Two losing. One smash.

Congrats on another victory Lead. Also congrats to Carolina for taking it to the wire. One question for Carolina. Why didn't you PM your Rangers pick on Friday? Not saying it would have changed anything, but at that point in such a tight battle with common team left on the board it seems to make sense. Unless of all picks have to be posted to the thread, but I don't recall that being a rule. Just curious in case I'm ever fortunate enough to be in that position.

I never clarified. But I went back and edited the initial post in this thread so I remember to clarify for Phase III.

All picks must be made in this thread. And time stamped no later than the start time of the game.

Only time it will really matter greatly is towards the end, in the exact scenario we saw play out here. Beginning, middle of the pool, I have no problem with someone texting, PMing, or emailing me a pick if they are away from a PC. But as we get towards the end, all picks have to be made in the thread.

I gaged the board's timer and submitted my pick at 10:04:58. It was a tactic to prevent Pipe from mirroring my selection, which clearly didn't work out.

I assumed picks had to be in before the official game time, and that's where I made my mistake. Should of made the pick at 10:05:58, I guess. Obviously, I would of selected the Rangers a few days earlier if I knew I couldn't submit my pick without Pipe having the liberty of matching my pick.
