I thought about a tiebreaker but did not set one up.
If everyone agrees, we can do a scorecard playoff, with a random selection of which game we start with.

Anyone?

Any thoughts on tiebreakers?
Scorecard playoff?
Pick totals for the remaining games, with the closest total of all remaining (1-3 games) winning?
Forget tiebreaker and split?

I show three guys still owing: Seb, GCSek and Chip.
Please remit today so we can pay out timely.

Tie Breaker Thoughts

Unread postby Action Boy » Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:52 am

JP,

I am not a fan of the scoreboard option

I have no problem with total points scored for the remaining 1-3 games.

Hmmm...how about total points scored by Kobe and Garnett for the remaining 1-3 games?

Another suggestion would be to include the over/under as a pick for the remaining 1-3 games....this may or may not solve a potential tie breaker.

Last but not least I am ok with splitting the dinero if it ends in a tie.

Stu:
Thanks for the input. I thought about the over/under but figured it was unlikely to decide much. We also considered a Hold em tourney but Dr V doesn't know how to play and would obviously win.

Unless someone feels more strongly about breaking the tie, we'll split. Winners will meet at a designated spot for dinner and libation. The pool total should cover 75-80% of the bill. Bring a few bucks for the tip!

Random Thoughts - Game 6

Unread postby Action Boy » Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:58 am

JP - The Celtic green has been very good to you in the Finals.

The Lakers are a horrible defensive team as they have played matador defense in the Finals. I have seen better defense on the pick n roll in rec leagues. How it even made it to six games is beyond my comprehension.

Kobe deferring to teammates late in the 4th quarter is laughable, specifically deferring to Gasol....who is soft at best.

CLANK, CLANK, CLANK.....that is the sound of 5 missed free throws in the final minute by the Lakers....from their three best free throw shooters.

This poll has been a blast. The NBA Finals shows exactly why it is nearly impossible to make a profit wagering on the NBA. I would have lost all sanity wagering on this series...lol

Boston is 4 this evening.

Should the Lakers win tonight, it is possible that two may be tied for first, or that one player will be one game ahead.
In the second scenario, I am sure there will be a waiting game; the first place guy will want to lock others out; the second place guy will want the opposite pick for the mathematical shot.

To promote "fairness" :x  :-x , Swerb, for a possible game 7, can we submit picks under seal and release at game time?

Final Thoughts

Unread postby Action Boy » Wed Jun 18, 2008 3:47 pm

JP,

Great pool...as is all the other ones you run. I leave this one with a bitter taste in my mouth having been at the top until the very end, but that is what I get for taking a team that has no clue how to defend.

Finally congrats to the winner.

When is the next one.....MLB Shutout...Phase 2??

Sorry, minor oversight.
Action Boy and Gridlock did indeed choose the Lakers last night.
I had listed them as np.

Vee picked a winner on 22 of 33 days. Look for other miracles this year. A Cleveland team championship??????

Stu: we will indeed be gearing up for Shutout Phase 2.
Maybe we'll do something like this for MLB playoffs.
Survivor and Pick 17 will start prior to that.

We're gonna do this one again this year. Entry is 25
For each day that an NBA playoff game is on the board, select one game ATS.

Most wins at the end of the NBA Playoffs wins. We may pay two places if we get enough entries.
