FanDuel vs. Online Poker...

Unread postby peeker643 » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:01 pm

I'll preface this by saying I've never used FanDuel as my Fantasy Football interest has waned over the years to the point I don't play it at all.

But how is immediate cash paid back on winnings for Fantasy Football in any way different than gambling on Party Poker or Pokerstars or any other site now illegal in the US?

Is it the skill vs. luck designation or something else?

It's gambling in any way you look at if you're risking real money.

I'll argue all day that poker is more skill than luck although both those elements exist on the fantasy side of things as well.

Just wondering if anyone knows the reason or has heard a reason given.

Guess I just miss the Friday and Saturday nights of 3am low limit card playing...

Yes, it's completely legal in the US and Canada!

In plain and simple terms, it's perfectly legal to play in FanDuel leagues, as long as you're in the US or Canada and 18 years of age or older. Fantasy sports is considered a game of skill and received a specific exemption from the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. We've even partnered up with companies like Sports Illustrated, Comcast, Sporting News, and plenty of others. Learn more about the legal jargon here.

Wow.

That's stunning to me, actually. I just disagree in that you put people of various skill level in a card room and play 100,000 hands, the most skillful players are winning that money.

But thanks for the blurb.
