Day 49 was all about blown leads on many levels. Bill Henry backed the Yankees and was in cruise control with Sabathia on the hill and a 4-0 5th inning lead. The gritty A's chopped away at the lead and won in extra innings, 5-4, completing the sweep of the Bronx Bombers. The Mets, Red Sox and Marlins were beaten like drums on Sunday as each was routed. Phase II has 5 days left and we have 4 contenders left: Govbarney, jjgmyers, Action Boy and Bill Henry.

As I mentioned, Sunday was about blown leads and bad beats as I can personally relate. I had a $50 spot on Adam Scott at 20-1 to win the British Open. I went from euphoria to being gut punched in about 30 minutes as Scott blew a 4 stroke lead, bogeying his final 4 holes

3 of the 4 contenders had plays on Monday night and all 3 won, which means Govbarney is in the house at 22-8. Bill Henry and Action Boy, both 20-8 must win their last 2 games to force a Friday playoff with Barney.

Barney backed the Marlins as they hung on for a 2-1 win as the Braves seriously threatened to tie the game in the 9th inning. The Braves are now 0-16 on Monday. They haven't won a Monday game in 4 months.

Action Boy notched a victory with the Indians as Aaron Cunningham, a late game defensive replacement gunned down Markasis at home plate in the 8th inning to preserve the victory.

On Sunday Bill Henry was dealt a harsh loss as the Yankees could not close out the A's after leading 4-0. That all changed on Monday as the Phillies notched a miraculous victory 7-6. The Phillies scored 4 runs off Rodriguez in an epic 9th inning meltdown. In 2/3 of an inning he gave up 4 hits and 3 walks......impressive stuff by the new closer.

Bill Henry has the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins left in his stable and Action Boy has the Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins left.
