The Fat Lady has sung for all but 2 contenders, Tpcatfox and Lead Pipe. A Tpc win with his last pick or one more Lead Pipe loss hands the title to Tpc. Lead can tie Tpc with 2 wins and a Tpc loss. Both players must submit their tie breaker picks if the outcome of the contest is still outstanding heading into Sunday's gmaes.

On the battlefield 3 contenders saw their dreams end - Swerb dropped his 4th straight as the White Sox bullpen blew yet another save. GHCS lost with the Blue Jays as they blew a 2-0 8th inning lead. Crippler went down with San Diego as their offense flat out blows. Lead Pipe remains alive despite the Yankees losing to the Metropolitans.

The winner is the person with the most total wins after the Sunday, May 22 games end. Winning % means nothing. Most total wins. If two people are tied at the end, and one is 22-8, and another is 22-7 (say due to a day #52 rainout) ... that is still a tie. Only category that means anything is total wins.

If everyone makes all their picks, each entrant will have picked exactly 30 games, each team in baseball one time, over a 52 day period. $30 per player, winner take all.

The tiebreaker, once we get there, and if we need it ... will be to pick the winners of every baseball game on the last day of the contest, Sunday, May 22. And note - May 22 is both the final day of the contest, AND the tiebreaker day. Any competitors who could potentially be involved in a tie will have to pick the winners of all 15 games that day. And also identify their final Pick 30 selection, if they still have one pick left to make. The second tiebreaker, if needed, is total runs scored by all the teams you selected to win in the final day tiebreaker. Third tiebreaker would be run differential.

Tpcatfox finishes Phase I with a 21-9 record. Kansas City lost 3-0 to St. Louis as Westbrook threw his best game of the year. The game was tied 0-0 in the 8th when Matt Holliday hit a 2 run jack.

Lead Pipe remains alive at 20-9 after the Cubs rallied to a 9-3 win over the Red Sox. With the Cubs trailing 3-1 in the 8th, Francona brought in Albers instead of Bard or Papplebon and the rest is history. The Cubs scored 8 runs, their single biggest inning of the year. I guess the bullpen boys had tired arms as we all know how overworked pitchers are these days.

So, we are down to Day 53 and Lead Pipe needs a Twins win to force a tie breaker situation. The Twins send Liriano to the hill against Hudson and the Diamondbacks in a late afternoon tilt. Liriano has excelled recently as well as Hudson. Which anemic offense will generate enough runs?

Both players must submit their tie breaker picks prior to the start of the 1st game which starts at 1:05. If Lead wins the Twins game, we have a tie at 21-9 and the winner is determined by the best record for today's games.
