Heading to Vegas

I'm heading to Vegas in a few weeks with a few buddies and am looking for a new strategy for blackjack and craps.

I head out there once a year and primarily play blackjack and craps (with some sports gambling mixed in for good measure).

Anyone got a good system they are willing to share. I've been using my system for years and am just looking for something new to try.

Craps is and always will be a negative expectation game. The reason behind that is that each roll is independant...and previous rolls of the dice mean nothing. Stanford Wong, of blackjack fame, wrote a book a couple of years ago in which he claimed that he could manipuate dice (legally) to avoid a "7" coming up, but I have no idea if others could replicate his alleged success.

Blackjack, of course, can be beaten mathematically, but you have to be proficient at counting. Negative and positive progression systems will never work.

It's fool proof. Eventually you'll hit a hand or a roll.

If your system doesn't include counting cards then you best just maximize your betting opportunities, b/c really there is no other way to win at the game.

My personal craps strategy, for what it's worth.

I play the pass line and take odds to the max once the point is set. House edge in this situation is about as low as it gets inside the casino. I'll then buy the six and eight before the first roll after point is set to get money in play and make some easy cashes. To get more money in play on a heating table, I'll buy the 5&9, 4&10 .

NO PROP BETS- they are bullshit. No hardways, don't play the field, no yo bets, horn bets, hoppin the 10, none of that bullshit.

Oh, and be sure to give the shooter his props as he/she rolls. Also give a nice stink-eye to anyone playing against the table. Not that it makes a difference, but it's fun- and that's why you are there.

Play them both off strip at locals casinos.

You'll bet great pass line odds and you'll be able to stay away from the 6-5 natural bullshit.

I find it humorous how many "experts" play those games on the strip. The "expertise" they are using to get them a few percentage points closer to 100% is easily evaporated by the rules on the strip.

And there aren't any systems. In craps or blackjack you can make the right mathematical choice EVERY time. Staying disciplined and sober enough to do so is the key.

By the way, to reiterate, especially in this economy, when they are more player friendly than a few years back - don't play a shitty game.

Well, when you start getting really drunk, just go sit at a nickel slot, play 5 lines, and continue to consume the free drinks. If you're competent enough, find one that'll play a scatter bonus or a bonus on lines 1, 3, or 5 instead of just on an active payline. That way, you can accumulate enough credits to keep sitting there drinking while losing very minimal money.
