Uncle Junior - Boston played a DH on Saturday and you did not indicate which game of the DH you were taking the Red Sox. This will end up being a PASS for the day.

Same deal as Uncle Junior. Carolina Blue failed to indicate which game of the DH his Boston pick was for. A PASS will be issued to Carolina Blue.

This has been consistent with how we have handled this in the past. Players must indicate which game they are choosing in the DH or the pick will result in a PASS.

WHHHAATT??????????????
The CB pick was posted at 6:06 pm, some two hours after the first game ended.
WTF did they play three games that day?
Pretty obvious that CB didn't choose first game.
CB should be fined two losses for this scam.

JP - we have always handled it this way and I even reached out to Swerb, because I just wasn't comfortable with the situation. Yes, it's obvious my pick was for the 2nd game. That being said, I'm still not good with it, therefore I will post Carolina Blue's Red Sox pick as a LOSS. Standings will be revised.

In this case it's the right thing to do.

All that being said. I picked Boston in the morning. Why wouldn't I get Boston the next time they played regardless of game time. My pick was in before the game started.

Also I believe that on 6-23 I picked the Cardinals and they won. Or at least Yahoo has them listed as winning. Check the time stamp to be sure. Also check to make sure they only played one game that day.

Far be it for me to stretch the rules of this wonderful game.

First off you are right with your Cardinals pick from June 23. No idea how I recorded it as a loss. I apologize for that and I will revise the standings as such. This has not been one of my best administrative efforts and I can easily use the website being down as the excuse, but I won't. No excuses for me missing picks. That being said, players should always check the standings for accuracy. If I don't hear from a player on a correction, then I may miss it.

Secondly, I have followed the rules that Swerb set since the inception of the pool. Have rare exceptions been made? Yes and they have been common sense decisions. The most recent involved Carolina Blue's Red Sox selection. Again, I spoke with Swerb (he can confirm that) and we discussed what we have always used regarding DH's - a player must notate which game of the DH he is selecting to avoid confusion or a PASS is issued to the player. Blue's pick was obviously for the 2nd game as the 1st game ended hours before and a LOSS was issued to Carolina Blue. It was the right call and I stand by the decision. I had all intentions of changing this today even before JP voiced his opinion, but I was at work.

In your case, you selected Boston before either game of the DH started, thus the PASS as there is no way of me knowing what game you wanted. You can look back over the years at previous Phases as we have had a handful of these and they have all been handled the same.

Last but not least, I have a clean reputation and make every effort to be fair to all. Swerb and JP can confirm that.

I hope this has provided some clarity on these items.

You are asking for trouble here.
What if they switch Cueto to second game at last second?
What if he is a scratch?
Do we allow picks contingent upon who is the starter?

If Cueto hadn't pitched Game 1 and was switched to Game 2 at the last second, Carolina Blue would have been issued a PASS.

To answer your questions:

DOUBLEHEADERS: If selecting a doubleheader game, you may designate a pitcher as long as he is officially listed as one of that day's probable starters. Example: "Giants with Cain". That gives you SF in whichever game Cain takes the hill. Should your doubleheader pitcher not go in either game, it is treated as a PASS. Finally, you may pick your game simply by #: "Cardinals, game 2".

What are you, a banker or something????
Million dollar loan documents are easier to follow than this.
Your answer hardly clears it up.

What if someone lists both (pitcher and game number), as a few did yesterday?
"Cin with Cueto in game #1"
What takes precedence, Cueto or Game 1?
If Cueto starts game two, why would one get Cueto when he clearly stated: "game #1"
You should shore up this rule.

Darvish is listed as a starter tonight. He was, however, "hit on the head in throwing practice and will be re-evaluated prior to Wednesday's start."
Can we then take "Houston, if Darvish doesn't start"?
