The real problem with heavy weight boxing isnt so much that the boxers suck (because they mostly do), the problem is that ever since the first Tyson Vs. Holyfield fight this jab jab clutch strategy seems to dominate the weight class.
Heavyweight boxing used to be about circling for angles, cutting of the ring, then raining down the thunderous booms. Shorter heavyweights made their money by stepping inside their opponents jab and devastating him with uppercuts.
Now heavyweight boxing is about jabbing and clutching. IT IS BORING. In order to fix it, they need to make excessive clutching a one point deduction like any other stupid boxing move. Give the warnings and start taking the points and it might become worth watching.

Middleweights have always been the best fighters and most entertaining fights. There are few things in life better than watching Ray Robinson Vs. Jake LaMotta on ESPN classic. Unfortunately, the general rule has always been (regarding the larger public) that boxing popularity hinges on the Big Boys.
Frankly the Big Boys have not really been entertaining since Tyson went to prison.
