The way I see it, from 140-168 lbs right now, the competition is as good as it's been in boxing in a long time (since the days of Hagler, Hearns, Sugar Ray) ... and some of the great fights we've seen recently (Pavlik/Miranda, Cotto/Judah) is just the tip of the iceberg.

There should just be great fight after great fight.

At 168 you have Calzaghe and Kessler, both unbeaten, both ready for name fights only at this point in their careers.

At 160 you have Taylor, Pavlik, Winky, Miranda.

At 154 you have Floyd and Oscar.

147 is loaded. Cotto, Margarito, Mosely, Judah, Baldomir.

And you have Hatton and Malignanni at 140, both wanting to come up a weight class or two to get into bigger $$$ fights.

And recently, the best guys have actually been fighting each other ... save Taylor ducking Pavlik right now.

Bottom line, the UFC is having an impact on boxing, and forcing some of these big name fighters to stop ducking guys and hiding behind their promoters. These guys are seeing Rampage and Liddell lead Sportscenter all of the sudden, and fear losing the limelight for fight fans.
