Two frontrunners last night. Was a serious lack of FOY candidates this year in boxing till these past couple months, where we've seen some amazing fights. Here's my short list, in no apparent order.
Marcos Maidana/Amir Khan - Khan hangs on to survive a vicious war between two of the best fighters in boxing's best weight class (140).
Vic Darchinyan/Abner Mares - Young Mexican up and coming bantamweight star Mares overcomes a vicious cut from a headbutt in rd 1 and a second round knockdown to take down The Raging Bull in a close, violent split decision.
Yohhny Perez/Abner Mares - Mares again, earlier this year, on the undercard of the 4th Vasquez/Marquez fight ... battle to a back and forth draw.
Rafael Marquez/Juan Manuel Lopez - The passing of the torch at featherweight.
Michael Katsidas/Juan Manuel Marquez - The gritty future Hall of Famer JMM shows he still has plenty left in his tank dispatching of Katsidas.
Carl Froch/Mikkel Kessler - Kessler wins a hard fought unanimous decision in prolly the best fight of the Super Six ... but possibly at the expense of his career (eye injury).
