Friday Night Fights 2010

Unread postby Rusty » Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:13 am

Great set of fights tonight on ESPN2.

The first bout went less than 30 seconds, Guillermo Rigondeaux hit his opponent with a devastating body shot. The guy was hurt badly on the canvas for several minutes. Rigondeaux looks like a legit contender after just a handful of pro fights. Very impressive.

Glen Johnson also looked good, scored a sixth round KO over Yusaf Mack. The Road Warrior seemed more inspired than he's been in his last few fights. He's always been a favorite of mine, extremely tough when he's at the top of his game.

In the last fight, Ed Peredes scored a brutal KO over Joey Hernandez in their rematch.

Good stuff.

Yes, good fights. The FNF lineup has been better this year than in years past, kudos to ESPN.

Also, after that on Shobox, intriguing welterweight Freddy Hernandez has an amazing KO of Chop Chop Corley in the 6th. KO of the year candidate. Chop Chop went limp ... it was scary.

Rigondeaux is a guy who has trained with Gamboa and Solis and is considered the best of the Cuban defects.
He has fought nobody yet and it's time for a step up, and a serious one at that.
The guy is legit but he needs to be contested.
