Fantasy Golf Shootout III Thread

Unread postby swerb » Mon Jan 30, 2006 2:17 pm

Through two weeks, standings are below.

Sammy The Bull shoots out to the early lead due to wins from his two big guns, Chad Campbell and Tiger winning the Hope and The Buick. Sammys only had 5 of his 15 guys cash, but those two big paydays are carrying him.

Kiggins & Bits, who has Campbell and Nathan Green, is right on his ass.

Each of the eight people with Tiger all moved up into the top of the field courtesy of his $918,000 win yesterday.

FBR Open at TPC Scottsdale is this week. The par three surrounded by grandstands where everyone gets heavily sedated and goes nuts after every tee shot is one of the greatest spectacles in golf.

Last year, Phil Mickleson won by five strokes thanks to a second round 60! Scott McCarron and Kevin Na tied for second.

Link to the field for the FBR this week is below.

Tony Bagadonuts jumps from 14th place to 2nd place due to the fact that he was the only one with J.B. Holmes, and also the only one with Verplank, who finished in that big tie for 3rd.

Holmes looked very impressive out at TPC Scottsdale this weekend .... BOMBING drives and also displaying a deft touch around the green. Holmes was the 1st place finisher at Q-School this offseason after a very solid college career.

Kiggins and Bits moved into 1st place thanks to solid finishes this week from Villegas, Oberholser, Cink, and Sabbatini. He overtook Sammy The Bull, whose team only took home about $30,000 this week after wins from big guns Chad Campbell and Tiger to start the season. Sammy resides in 3rd place.

Bud, Sweat, and Tees moved from 5th to 4th behind Villegas, and a strong rally on the back nine Sunday from Mickleson moved Yogi Yanoso into 5th place.

The Pebble Beach Pro Am is up next, and is always one of the funnest events to watch on television, and provides a smooth transition from the official end of football season.

Field for Pebble Beach is available at this link:

Weir & Mickleson could get me some nice prize money. Need good closing scores.

Also happy I did not drop Hunter Mahan this week. I was thisclose to pulling the trigger a few days ago.

Ouch. Never good when the guy in first has both the 1st and 2nd place finisher.

Thats what happened this week, as Kiggins & Bits opened up an early lead of 1.73 million over second place Bud, Sweat, and Tees.

Kiggins had Oberholser and Sabbatini, who combined for over 1.5 million. Swerb I was the only other one with Obeholser, and he jumped from 18th to 8th as a result. The aforementioned Bud, Sweat, and Tees was the only other one with Rory, and he moved from 4th to 2nd.

Tony Bagadonuts slipped from 2nd to 3rd, with just Chopra in the top 10. Shimmies Gimmies made a jump from 10th to 4th behind the solid performances of Weir, Byrd, and Mahan. And Sammy The Bull slipped from 3rd to 5th on an off week for his squad.

Alright ... the field has officially been split into two tiers.

Those who have Rory Sabbatini, and those who don't. 2 mill in earnings in the first 4 weeks.

Can I panic yet?

Kiggins lead is now 1.8 million, and he is up 3-5 million on the rest of the field ... and in a hurry. Dude had 5 other guys in the money this week. Kiggins is now averaging almost 1.3 million in prize money each week. This is BY FAR the best start in the three year history of this league.

2nd and 3rd place are the other two guys with Sabbatini. Bud, Sweat, and Tees is in 2nd place at 3.33 mill. And Sammy The Bull in 3rd at 3.05 mill.

Tony Bagadonuts and Shimmies Gimmies stay in the top 5 this week, but both move down a spot to 4th and 5th respectively.

Jimmy Sea Bass made a big move from 17th to 9th this week. He dumped Sean O'Hair and added Adam Scott on Wednesday. Scott shot 64 on Sunday to take 2nd, and Jimmy was the only one with him.

And D Money amazingly is still at just $540,000 in earnings. Nearly 5 mill off the lead after just 4 weeks! Sad thing is, I'd be right there with him if it weren't for Oberholser. The Toms/Furyk duo at 10 mill a pop (combined 200k in earnings) isn't working out too well for us.

And with that, "Eff Rory" officially replaces "Eff Monty" as the '06 battle cry from the commish.

Kiggins and Bits $5,140,474.06
Bud, Sweat, & Tees $3,335,903.98

Fired up for the finish at Doral today.

Swerb II has 3 of the top 4 on the board heading into the final round. Tiger, Villegas, Ridings. New acquisitions Barlow and Senden both -6 ... hopefully they can fire 68s and get to double digits and a decent payday.

Swerb I has Toms up at the top of the board. Ames, Frazar, Atwal, Watson all lurking.

Four people with Luke Donald, most notably 1st Half Urmsons Boy aka Swerbs Blurbs golf correspondent Al Canitia.

Three people had this weeks winner Rod Pampling, and all made big jumps in the standings. And one of them is our new leader.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, Jimmy Sea Bass was one of the Pampling owners. Sea Bass had been in second place, quietly stalking Kiggins and Bits, our leader pretty much from the get go.

And now he has caught and surpassed him. Nine guys in the money and the winner bringing home about a mill will do that.

Sea Bass's Big Five are Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Pampling, Zach Johnson, and Lucas Glover. No one star, just a balanced attack.

The other Pampling owners were 1st Half Urmson (who jumped from 12th to 7th) and Van Wags (who jumped from 26th to 15th). Most of the rest of the standings stayed pretty much in tact. No one had Greg Owen or Darren Clarke, this weeks 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

The Players Championship this week! Will have a preview up on the front page of the site (written by Yogi Yanoso) in the next day or two.

Updated standings below ...

Jimmy Sea Bass $6,853,450.21
Kiggins and Bits $6,440,593.08

Only two people with Ames, who took home an obscene 1.44 mill for his big win at The PLAYERS. Swerb 1 and Tony B. Both instantly rose from the middle of the pack to 5th and 6th respectively.

Kiggins & Bits took back the lead from Sea Bass thanks to a T-3 from Villegas, and Sea Bass registering only about 35k in prize $$$ this week. Nearly everyone gained ground on the leaders.
