Orchard Hills ... Buh Bye

Just got a call from a gal I work with. She runs the Ohio Mortgage Society, which has had its golf outing at Orchard Hills in Chesterland for the last 7-8 years.

Allegedly, it's been sold, and the new owners are turning it into a park.

That's really a shame. I always really liked that course. The whiff of apples in the air from Patterson's fruit farm right next door. Toughest practice green in NE Ohio. A tricky course with several dogleg lefts, which wreaked havoc with my natural left to right ball flight.

That stinks. Orchard was one of my favorite tracks back in my CTown days. The view from the balcony of the clubhouse, overlooking the course, cut down in the valley below was one of the all time great golf course views. You could see like 8 of the holes.

RIP Orchard.
