THE OFFICIAL OSU/scUM PREDICTION THREAD!

Unread postby furls » Sun Nov 12, 2006 1:10 pm

There is currently a prize package for the winner consisting of:

2 Tickets to the OSU vs. Coppin State men's basketball game (courtesy of me) and $25.00 (courtesy of Swerb himself) to buy concessions or gas or whatever!

Here is the Ticket Info!

MEN'S BASKETBALL VS COPPIN STATE
Date: Saturday, December 30, 2006 Time: 8:00 pm
SCHOTTENSTEIN CENTER

Type Level Section Row Seat(s) Qty
PUBLIC E 131 P 15-16 2

Oden is expected to be ready the first week in January, maybe the winner will get lucky and he will heal early and try to get a quick work out in before Big Ten play!

Here is my grading criteria:

1.) Right team
2.) Closest score differential (that is the total of the absolute values of both the Buckeyes and scUM's score differences)
3.) Tie breaker is my subjective grading of your comments that go with the score. Comments should not be obvious and I will award extra consideration to lower probability predictions, things like, "The Buckeyes will hold Michigan to negative rushing yardage". THat is a pretty unlikely scenario, so if it is accurate or close you will get MAD PROPERS.

Good Luck, have fun, and GOOOOOO BUUUUUCKS!

Much like the 04 game, OSU will get up early on some Troy Smith magic and keep the pressure on Henne. Big games for Ginn and Gonzo. One big pass play to each of them (over 50 yds). Pittman gets slowed down (70 yards), but Troy doesn't. 325+ total yards and 3 Td's.

31-14 Bucks.

Also, Henne throws 2 INT's

THe way I have done it all year is as follows:

absolute value of (OSU score - predicted) + Absolute value of (opponent score- predicted).

Tie breaker is my subjective interpretation of commentary, basically the guy who makes the most accurate and difficult predictions. Things like Troy Smith will probably break 50 yards passing wont get you much love, but something like predicting 2 defensive scores does, or the defense holding mike hart to 75 yards on the ground.

Award should go to who picked the winner....then point differential. I mean, if one someone on here predicts a Michigan win, and they win, that person should get the prize. :D

The Ohio State university- 26

puke up north - 9

Low scoring contest ....sloppy track ...The best coach in the land wants to dominate the time of possession. I'm thinking a lot of Pitt, Wells and Wells. Michigan drives early ...gets a few points, then the best D in the land shuts them down for the majority of the day. Expect a big play from the special teams (Ginn on a punt maybe?) or a fumble for a TD.

Two great D's ...We have to control the T.O.P.

I pray Syke's prediction comes true with Smith running a 14 yarder in and then striking the pose!

Go BUCKEYES!

tOSU - 19
scUM - 17

I think the game is really close. Have to admit I'm feeling a little nervous. Hopefully all this hype isn't going to players heads. They haven't really been challenged and had all the luck so far this year. I'm not prepared to predict a loss though.

And I honestly have no idea who the winner is right now. Comes down to a last second FG make. My heart says OSU, my gut says Michigan.

Word on the street is that Greg Oden is ahead of schedule and there is a very good chance he will be ready to go in late December.

OSU wins 22-13.

Primarily a defensive struggle most of the game. Ted Ginn makes a big play on special teams.

Any chance we will see Teddy Ginn lined up at QB or next to Troy in the "shot-ginn" for a few plays? I expected to see it at some point in the season, but didn't.

The two most important men for any football team are the head coach and the quarterback. Ask the New England Patriots.

And our beloved Buckeyes have the best damn head coach and the best damn quarteback in the land. This will be the difference tomorrow.

Troy Smith revels in playing in big games, and makes next to mistakes. His ability to stay poised when on the run and under duress are amazing. He's thrown only 4 INTS all season, and by my count ... one was actually his fault 100%.

I expect the Buckeyes to do what they do best under Tressel: exploit Michigans weaknesses defensively. I expect them to spread the field, utilize their weapons at QB and WR, score 10-14 points on their first two drives, and I expect them to be in a position to force Chad Henne to beat them with his arm - which I do not feel he will be able to do in this environment, against this secondary.

I think the Buckeye defense will force three turnovers. Harts 1st fumble in the 1st half, and 2 Henne INTs in the second half. I expect Malcolm Jenkins to get at least one of those. Brian Robiskie and Ross Homan are my sleepers for breakout performances.

I am watching the replay of last year's game on ESPN Classic and my confidence in Troy Smith and the Buckeyes is growing. I am watching these scUM defenders just whiff and dive at Smith as he makes play after play. I can't see how any new D/C or scheme can contain Troy. He is truly a wizard.

In Troy and Tressel I trust.

I feel good about my prediction.

I've been saying all year Troy Smith is an awesome QB ( I truly believe he will be a good NFL QB) and Tressel doesn't lose games like this.

26 - 9

Rich actually took one of my players... Robo. Everyone is so concerned with Ginn and Gonzo, they miss him, or just dont have enough DBs to cover him.

Bucks win 34-16, read my preview for the finer points.

Swerb is standing right here next to me and can verify that my buddy, Kyle Moyer is having trouble with the boards. He would like to take the following:

OSU 37
scUM 17

Smith throw 289 yards
Pittman gains 100+ yards

Well,

It looks like our winner is Kyle Moyer.

His predictions were pretty good too. Smith finished with 316 yards and Pittman had 139 yards.

Enjoy the tickets Kyle, I hope Oden plays.
