How many games will michigan win?

There is their schedule and IMO the teams they match up best with as of right now are Wiscy & OSU. Simply b/c they don't appear to have much explosiveness and don't run many spread sets right now.

IMO they should and will beat ND, both teams suffer defensively and ND just doesn't have the offensive firepower to pull it off this year.

After that it is Eastern michigan and Illinois that I see as their best shots overall.

Penn st.'s D is good enough to make that a very interesting game that could come down to the last minute.

I have the wolverines winning 5 games right now. ND, EM, Illini, MSU and pulling off what will be a big upset at the time either over Penn St., the Badgers or us (seriously I see them winning one of those just b/c).

They'll find a way to get to bowl eligibility IMO ... 6-6 or 7-5.

Did anyone else hear that michigan's big 3...Henne, Hart and long all got hurt today.

With Henne hurt and a freshman QB most likely making the start next week maybe ND gets it done.

If Henne or Hart were to miss a few games then IMO no way they get near a bowl game, but I see what you are saying Swerb. IF things were to right themselves for lil m a bowl game in not 100% out of reach yet.

Saw the post game presser, Hart said he was fine. IMO, Henne's trick knee acted up out of embarrasment.

These guys love Carr, and now know this is his last season. I expect them to rebound, win 7 games, and get to a bowl. The offense will get their shit together eventually, its the secondary that could keep them out of a bowl. Its a disaster.

It's hard to pick this year's Notre Dame team to beat them, however, until they stop SOMEONE defensively, you can't count anyone out. That Ron English D might just be what the doctor ordered for a young QB like Clausen to gain some confidence.

Horrible. Embarrassing. Hilarious.

I think the more intriguing question is will Michigan throw a huge bag of money at Les Miles to lure him back to his alma mater? I have a definite rooting interest in the guy because he's from Elyria too! His price will be very high, especially if LSU does win a title. Has any coach jumped ship from a national champ before to go to another school?

Someone said during the LSU game last night he would go today if they asked. Idolized Bo and it is his dream job.

I am not sure if they get Les Miles, but I would not be surprised to see them make a run at Tedford, Schiano, and I have also heard Gruden rumors. Rodriguez is another name that was tossed around, but I doubt that since he just signed a 5 year extension.

I know Schiano turned down Miami last year, but Michigan is a better opportunity. The Big Ten is much more polarized talentwise so there is a much better chance of winning and Ann Arbor is a college town where Miami is a pro first town with crappy facilities that has trouble selling out unless the team is ranked #1.

Michigan will look to make a splash and will hire a household name (Tedford/Miles/Gruden) or one of the super young guns (Schiano or someone of similar ilk)

Michigan can buy out the contracts. They've got plenty of $$$$.

I think they've already gotten their quota of West Virginia coaches by hiring the new guy for basketball.

We've heard a lot of Gruden rumors down here. It's been his dream job since he was a kid in Sandusky and while at Dayton. He's mentioned that Michigan is his favorite collegiate program when I've briefly spoken with him in the past when working with the Bucs.

Tedford would be a top name.

Very true. I think Schiano also saw the potential of Rutgers. When it is successful like last year it becomes the de facto collegiate football team of NYC and (maybe) Philadelphia. Turning it into a power is probably something Schiano would love to do. Rumors have it that the only place he'd be willing to go is to Penn State after Joe Pa retires or kicks it. If he's waiting for the Penn State gig to open up then he likely won't go to Michigan.

Agree. Miles might be the biggest name at the end of the season, depending on what happens. LSU looked like they were a championship caliber team last night. There's still a long road to go, but if LSU does take the title then Miles would look really attractive to UM. He played there, was an assistant there many moons ago, was an assistant under McCartney at Colorado. If he wins a title with a SEC team that will give him the most impressive resume. In addition, he's a native Ohioan and Michigan has had huge success there while also managing to piss off Ohio State fans in the process.

I'm sure Miles will be their #1 target. He's tied to the program but not a longtime assistant there, so he's not the kind of "Michigan Man" like the ones they hired in Gary Moeller and Lloyd Carr. He's intensely loyal to the school and would likely work to create a blistering defense.

Michigan is very thrifty and seeing as how they are going to have to pay big for a coach, they are probably not going to pay big enough to get Rodriguez out of a freshly inked 5 year deal that almost certainly has a HUGE buy out.

I want to preface this by saying that I love Coach Miles and I think the job he is doing is fantastic... but the defense he has fell into his lap and is more a product of circumstance (great defensive recruiting in Louisiana and great defensive coaches since 5 years before he came to LSU) than his doing. I hate to say that because he is the man, but I'm just being honest.

On the Michigan front, I believe if he rattles off 11+ wins this year than he'll get an offer. Right now he is just ignoring the rumors, but he'll listen to the offer if it comes. The $1.25M buyout specifically for Michigan wont stop them, and I think he'll look at it hard.

Another thing about lil m, they have a history of not wanting to pay big bucks for the coaches.

I guarantee that Miles will be the next head coach at TSUcksN.

Reason is simple...he played there, got his start coaching there...and TSUcksN is big on keeping it in the "family" and they probably want someone who has a Bo legacy.

As for the record...the conference has quite a few light touches this year, so it wouldn't surprise me if they got lucky enough to win 7 or 8. It is virtually a lock that tOSU, Penn State and Wisconsin will plow through them.

TSUcksN and the Irish are the answer to the question..."who will be playing in the Super Bowl of mediocrity?" Final Score: TSUcksN 35, the Irish 20.

Just a hunch...the Irish won't be "bowl eligible" this season.

Hoppy while I do agree with you that Michigan will target Miles, I was having a conversation with a buddy of mine (also a LSU fan) and he brought up a pretty good point on the whole Michigan/Miles argument.... timing.

After Michigan's regular season ends LSU has another reg. season game (Arkansas) followed by hopefully the SEC Champ. game. Also, if LSU plays in a BCS bowl or the national title game it will have to be pushed back to early-mid January. Will Michigan essentially wait 1.5-2 months to get Miles and risk missing out on vital recruiting battles? I wouldn't imagine that Miles would miss out on a national title game if that is a possibility? That isn't something that is a guarantee for any coach regardless of how good he may be. It doesn't personally change my opinion on the matter, but it is something else to think about.

I wouldn't guarantee that. Michigan is notoriously cheap and I think LSU will financial match anything Michigan offers. Is it impossible? No, I just don't think it is as probable as a lot of people seem to think. Will they make a run at him? sure.

As for the whole NC game thing.... that is a great point. I am not sure how much that would effect it either. Who is to say that a coach is not going to negotiate a contract with Michigan while persuing a NC? There is not a doubt in my mind that that could occur, but the limbo period would definitely provide some problems heading into Febs, recruit signing.

Helluva point, I guess that was a bit naive of me. I'm not really familiar with Michigan's track record of paying coaches (apprarently frugal), but in Miles' contract with LSU he only has a buyout for one team. If he leaves LSU for Michigan, he owes LSU 1.25 Million. So that may be something to look out for if Michigan wants to try and low-ball him.
