I know Schiano turned down Miami last year, but Michigan is a better opportunity. The Big Ten is much more polarized talentwise so there is a much better chance of winning and Ann Arbor is a college town where Miami is a pro first town with crappy facilities that has trouble selling out unless the team is ranked #1.
Michigan will look to make a splash and will hire a household name (Tedford/Miles/Gruden) or one of the super young guns (Schiano or someone of similar ilk)

Michigan can buy out the contracts. They've got plenty of $$$$.

He's intensely loyal to the school and would likely work to create a blistering defense.

Who is to say that a coach is not going to negotiate a contract with Michigan while persuing a NC?
