I'm waiting (patiently) for the MAC to admit Youngstown State. They will boost the MACs profile in football if it is ever done.

I'm a Miami grad, but cheer for the rest of the MAC when they play out of conference. Some nice victories this past weekend topped by BGSO over Minnesota. Maybe the league is getting back to where it was a few years ago when it could give the ranked teams a scare and knock off the middle of the road BCS league teams regularly.

Akron's win over NIU in the MAC Championship game was one of the most entertaining college games I've watched in years.

The MAC is a grossly underrated conference. They are not (obviously) at the BCS level, but high end MAC teams consisently give middle tier BCS teams a pretty good game and they beat the lower tier BCS teams pretty regularly. The conference is actually much deeper than people give it credit for. Miami, NIU, BGSU, Kent, and Akron all have the potential to be pretty good in any given season (not to mention the michigan teams).

The mid majors are coming on strong. The limits on how many scholarships a school can give has kept the big schools from stockpiling talented players, they're going to smaller schools instead.

A lot of these guys have a chip on their shoulder because they weren't recruited by the big schools and they're out to prove them wrong. And these schools are sitting right smack in the middle of high school football heaven.

The problem with the MAC is the teams come out with mediocre records because they beat each other up so much in conference play, they're not taken seriously.

And then there's the NCAA politics. Where a 26 win basketball program can't get into the tournament because .500 Dukie needs a spot. Notre Dame could lose 8 games and still get a bowl berth. That might happen this year LOL.
