IU vs. Ohio State: 3:30 Kick on ABC

Unread postby furls » Sat Nov 23, 2013 9:14 am

This year's schedule is really starting to get to me. I am not saying I am not going to watch, I am just saying that it is getting less interesting watching our weekly scrimmage.

That said, this IU team has a pretty decent offense (in spite of last week's beatdown @ Wisco). They are going to put up some points. I just hope it isn't another embarrassing 60-35, 25 point survival game.

My guess is another disappointing 60 point victory... 66-17.

Other games of Note:

-'Bama plays powerhouse Tennessee (Chatanooga). I wonder where the outrage over their schedule will be... I mean it is not like Chatanooga is an FCS school.
-Iowa vs. scUM: Here's to hoping that scUM finds its 4th loss. Iowa is a pretty decent team and I think they win, pretty easily too.
-Baylor vs. Oklahoma St.: I have said for the last two weeks that OSU(w) wins. The only question is who is the next team to get the benefit of a "jump" OSU campaign? Will it be Ok. St. fresh off a victory over the TRUE #3 team in the country, or Oregon who only lost to Stanford because they didn't play Oregon football? If I were ESPN, I would pick Auburn... that would make for an epic #1 @ #3 match up next week! Then the NCG is pretty much guaranteed to feature the winner!
Coming from a Wolverine, we're the football equivalent of a formerly abused wife of a meth addict who just remarried the safe nice guy. We're just glad we have someone who's aware that it's a rivalry and that tackling on defense is integral. Baby steps.

PiP, LOL. Good point though, I have a pretty decent up to date TV and I don't see that option anywhere.

Gardner with the crucial 4th quarter fumble, and Iowa beats Michigan. Wolves blew a 21-7 lead.

I have a ridiculously cutting edge TV, Samsung (1080/240Hz) 3D LED. I have PiP but I never use it, partially because I have DirecTV and only one receiver hooked up to the TV. Therefore I can only watch one channel at a time (I think).

That is one more than ran down mine. That game was nowhere near as close as the score. scUM had 14 pts off of TOs and couldn't move the ball... ever. Oh yeah, Iowa missed 2 easy FGs too.

Well if that opening drive by the Buckeyes wasn't the epitome of this team's strength I don't know what was.

So, I after watching the first 2 drives I am pretty sure OSU should be dropped to #12-13. They should've been able to gain at least 12 yards on every carry instead of just averaging ~ 12YPC in a snowstorm.

That fumble play bothers me, not just b/c of the fumble, but why didn't he step up in the pocket, and then run, it was there. He's too good to not see that, IMO.

Call me crazy, but this team seems to hit a patch of either ineffectiveness of lack of interest and execution, seems to be the 2Q most times. It's across between the Mike Brown's 3rd Qs and CC's random inning of crap.

Looks like OSU is content to play this game in a phone booth running into 8 and 9 man fronts.

I'm just not impressed with Dontre Wilson. I keep hearing how fast he is, but if Ginn had half the lanes he's had, they would all be 6.

Can't catch, misses gaps, BUT FAST WOOOOHOOOO!

I'm with you CDT. He's quick as lightening no doubt, but I haven't seen a real impressive top gear, and with the lanes he gets...

Funny you say Ginn b/c the hole in his game was that initial quickness, I think that is why he wasn't as "open" as a WR as we all thought he should be. But Ginn's top speed makes Wilson look like a 70s B1G mudder.

I think Wilson is plenty fast, the issue is that he is weak (notice all the fumbles and lack of broken tackles) and they only use on him on 3 plays. The secret is out.... if Wilson is in the game it is 90% likely to be a sweep. I am not seeing a bunch of big lanes, I am seeing a defense flowing to Wilson everytime he is on the field.

I wouldn't be surprised, and the dolts at the academic school up north are probably going to be left wondering what could have been.

SEC, SEC, SEC, SEC....

They all share in each others wins, are they going to share in this loss? That said it is a school in GA and it even has South in its name, it is clearly a very fast team even though it is an FCS team.

The secret is out.... if Wilson is in the game it is 90% likely to be a sweep. I am not seeing a bunch of big lanes, I am seeing a defense flowing to Wilson everytime he is on the field.

Then why don't put him out wide, 1 on 1 and just have him run a go route? Surely his raw speed can get him open alone..... at least some of the time.

Georgia Southern did not complete a pass today (0/3) and missed two XPs. Mother of god.

I don't know what he is good at, seriously, we just haven't seen enough of him to know that he is quick, fast and weak.

One great thing about Wilson is that he completely affects the defense whether he touches the ball or not.

Starting to come down with some fury there. Wonder if Urbs will attempt another pass the rest of the game...

The Buckeyes are doing that thing where they don't really do much of anything with the ball again. It is very frustrating. I have no idea how I can be frustrated in a game that is 28-0, but I am. The playcalling is just very VERY boring and vanilla and doesn't seem to be maximizing the on field advantages.

I know the weather is not great, but they have gone to the opposite extreme this week.

You're a bit greedy like me, and you KNOW what they need to do on the scoreboard to convince some voters, that is why you are frustrated. That's why we are frustrated.

Wilson found that hole

And I guess that's what Wilson gives you. Hyde seals the edge, and Wilson's gone for 6.
