A little bit flat on that throw. Kenny's trying to stretch his arm out, didn't have enough air under the ball. And now they've got a first down. Darn.

The adult contemporary jazz stylings of OSU's second string QB. It is nice having a competent backup. SDSU is terrible, I don't think losing to an FCS team by 3 TDs last week was a fluke.

Sucks watching Baylor take Buffalo to the woodshed. 35-13 with about 12mins left in the second.... yikes.

This SDSU team is awful.

But hey, at least we play D-1 schools, unlike the cowardly Nike U.

Has Decker looked better at RT today? Or is it just that SDSU has motherscratcher Khalil Macks?

A week after that debacle I think you have to at least state that Decker is a raw sophomore in his first season as a starter and he was playing against ( a lot of the time) a senior LB who sure looks like a legit 1st round/Top 45 NFL pick.

Yeah, he played a bit as a freshman last year but not against a guy like that and then shit may have snow-balled on him.

Maybe we need to give the kid a pass somewhat. He hasn't been beaten today that I've seen.

SDSU blows. I wouldn't try to take anything away from this game, that involves the competition. It is nice to see Curtis Grant really playing well today though. Joe Bosa has been impressive too. I have no idea why but we have not seen much A-Wash. We have seen lots of Chris Carter and Mike Hill at tackle, that is good too. Josh Perry has been solid too. Very happy with what I am seeing out of Doran Grant.

I would like to see more youngsters in the 2nd half on offense and perhaps a little less Jordan Hall.

The team's playing like the game's over. Which it is, but it'll prevent putting up 60 or 70 on bad teams. Maybe not Florida A&M, however.

So, one time I was watching an Ohio State game... and a good natured scrimmage broke out. This game and last week's game have been hard to watch. This coming from a guy that has trouble sleeping on Friday nights.

Well ask ND why they keep refusing to play us every year since 19whenever.

Both ND & UM look far more in sync and much stronger than tOSU. Bucks are in the probation trough & a year or two away. They will lose 2 games in conference in a meh season.

Very overrated riding last years seniors.

Yep, I *hate* agreeing with FUDU more than anything, but Gene Smith threw ND to the Wolves and openly called them on refusing to play every single year.

ND has sucked since 19whenever and really not the benchmark for a quality out-of-conference team until recently but for argument's sake I will concede that they're a quality opponent . What about the other 3-4 cupcakes per year?

Well OSU can hardly control the strength of their conference schedule. Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota... these teams never seem to get better. They're soft, no doubt.

But as Dan and Furls pointed out, OSU has tried as hard as anyone in the nation to schedule good teams early in the year. Georgia, Vandy, and Cincy bailed. Va Tech next 2 years I believe.

My fear is that these 2 non con games have been so not competitive that the staff isn't really running real games here.

I agree with Jb that scUM and ND look a little crisper right now. I don't know about 2 conference losses, but these first 2 scrimmages are not going to get the team ready for a dogfight. They still haven't had to play a whole game so you have to wonder a little about conditioning and how these young guys will do when the face adversity.

I didn't see Brionte Dunn in the game at all today. Was he in at all?

I was hoping he was going to be our next big power back after Hyde graduates...doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Two weeks, zero carries for Dunn.

He's going to need a Rod Smith going nuts on special teams type of coming too or he's done. Especially with EZ-E already at 218 and Ball at 222.

Smith is the truest non-senior power back on the roster and the only one that looks to be getting touches this year.

I don't blame tOSU for the NC jokes. Super conferences killed the nc classics. But Vandy as proof they tried? Lmao. Vandy = Mac most years.

Cal is gonna give them a test of sorts with that QB .

It's only a dumbass like CDT that would quote the Georgia and Tenn series that were cancelled for the ultra awesome B1G/PAC merger that fell apparent and spawned the TCU/TEJAS/OREGAN run of games as having to do with this years schedules. Newsflash, they have nothing to do with this year's schedules!

Just never talk again CDT, you are tall, stupid and useless.

As to things outside of that, Vandy quit and Cal was supposed to be the big game right now because ten years ago Jeff Tedford was signing Marshawn Lynch, hanigng out with Aaron Rogers, bitch slapping Deshaun Jackson and putting together a potential title contender.

Yeah I thought we went through this already and Furls debunked the over the top criticism of OSU scheduling.

So why is it Dunn get no touches, he's supposed to be all that right?

Frankly I'll take more Wilson. 10 touches a game IMO.

Most people forgot how good Ball is because one a kid commits, everyone stops talking about him. Coming out of the sophomore and jr years, most had Ball as the best back in OH and he was the first one offered. Dunn had a fantastic senior year and sort of blew up and played the recruiting game for a long time. IIRC Ball had some nagging injuries as a senior that did not help his recruiting profile.

I have heard and read from multiple sources that Bri'onte Dunn was an entitled jerk and bad teammate in HS, couple that with his "Mom's Weed" last summer and getting in the dog house last year for not knowing the playbook and the sideways comments from Drayton about ST, and I think it is pretty clear that the staff is no longer interested in him. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't travel with the team to CA and if they don't even coach him in practice anymore. He would not be the first there, but he is competing against a guy in Ball that is probably a little faster, smarter and a better teammate. Dunn is a bruiser, but I have always felt that he "outphysicalled" his competition in HS. In NCAAF, when that gap narrows/goes away, things can go sideways for a kid like Dunn that has always operated like that. It is like the WR that runs crappy routes but is so fast that he can get open in HS. It takes a special, rare kind of fast (Tedd Ginn II) to pull that off at high level NCAAF.

Dunn is done, and I have to believe that he is on the coaches bad side because they didn't even throw him a bone yesterday. I have to think that Cardale Jones is probably in pretty close to the same situation.

We seem to have reclaimed so legitimacy at RB, it looks like were at least 3 deep with some differing running styles and ways of hurting the D. We haven't had the traditional OSU workhorse that was always a top back in the country since Beanie and frankly only two since JT took over (MoC)(and I was always an Antonio Pittman fan, under rated IMO). I'm liking this Hall,Hyde & Wilson combo right now.

Pittman really needed to comeback for that senior year, but with Chris Wells on the roster, the writing was on the wall. Leaving made a lot of sense in that case. I would have loved to have had Pittman on the 10, 11 or 12 teams.

I don't know about "we" since I wasn't here for it. My only concern is for tOSU getting better so they don't lay an egg against better competition at the end of the year in a BCS bowl. You play better competition during the regular season on a consistent basis you get better.

So far the B1G looks better than expected, but the point of your argument is valid. Luckily Cal apparently sucks too, struggling last night against FCS Portland State yesterday. I think Wisco is going to be a serious punch in the gut for this team as they will be a serious jump in competition and don't appear to have taken much of a step back. Our NC sked is not going to help them prep for that.
