When it comes to most of the impact players, the geo-socio-economic composition of the St Edwards football and basketball programs in no way reflect the geo-socio-economic composition of the student body.

It isn't the days of the Lowes and those families in your era, Oreygun. It is at a Cardinal Mooney-esque level. Kalis was a mercenary. He's not changing his spots. It is what it is.

Much, if not most of the recruiting info...lists of commits (current, past and future years)...prospects...etc, is free and can be accessed at the "football recruiting" tab from the home page. It has search capability if you're searching by a name of a kid.

The main thing that is "premium" there is the "Ask the Insiders" forum (Forums tab) that's where Bill Greene, nevadabuck and, to a lesser degree, the main Buckeye Sports Bulletin writers (Marcus Hartman, Jeff Svoboda, Ari Wasserman, Matt Hager) hang out.

You can get some of the same info (after wading thru a lot of crap) at the free board over there. "Hineygate" board, I think they're calling it these days.

Ditto the above info for basketball stuff.

It's about $90/year, if I recall, for that Insider access, which also gives you certain articles on the home page, and from other Scout sites, that aren't available for free.

If you look under "Football recruiting" and select "prospects" you can look at all those under consideration...by position, or whatever.

At Bucknuts.com, the recruiting info is also good...with Duane Long and Bill Kurelic the main guys, but Steve Helwagen and Dave Biddle are also well-connected and have good insights. They are about $99/year, I think, for the VIP status there. I haven't subscribed there for a while, but Coz and Furls do, so I rely on them to keep me clued in on what (mostly) Duane is saying.

BTW, a lot of what used to be available only by paying for it is now made public on this thing we call Twitter...all the twitter handles for all the above-mentioned OSU writers/experts are listed at my OSU Links and Resources page linked in my sig below...

It takes like two minutes to create your account...sayin'.

Edit: I should add that I get the print subscription to BSB as part of the Scout premium package...and I think (somebody tell me if I'm wrong about this)that the print sub is still part of the deal for new subscribers. I've been getting BSB print for about 25 years, so I'm not sure what the new guys get. IMO, the quality of the writing, with Marcus, Jeff, and new addition Ari, is as good as it has ever been. Mark Rea edits it (see his blog also)and it's not a small consideration if you are deciding if you want to spend nine bucks a month for this kind of service.

BN also has a good print magazine type publication...not sure if it's part of the annual deal...I think it is.
